Love it. It shows that there's a ton of talent out there. Sometimes its not the 'big name' who is the best fit for a team/system. I sometimes think that Rex could probably take a defense full of unndrafted-but-good athletes and build a strong defense in two seasons.
Every year when the season is about to start, my buddy and I both name a few more unknown players on our team that deserve props. Snacks was the 1st or 2nd person I mentioned this year, and I'm glad he's showing such positive results. Edit: Now that I read the full page, I'll also add that I told my friend about Davis, and Sheldon too. Again, awesome they're having such great play early on in the season, and in their careers. Now hopefully some more words get written up in a positive manner, specifically about Coples...
There's nothing better than getting an UDFA to 1) make the roster 2) fill a starting role 3) play WELL in that starting role. Absolutely love Snacks ----- he got a shot and took full advantage of it. But we need K. Ellis for some dominating 4-3 fronts --- where is he?
I was wrong about Sheldon Richardson. Not that I didnt think he was a good DL prospect. It just was not a position I was looking at in the draft so early But the guy looked like he was appropriately positioned on our draft board early and taking him was the right call ------ BPA philosophy worked. And I love Davis too. Nothing better than 3rd round picks spending thier first year playing limited roles/special teams and learning the NFL experience to then come in and play well in a starting role. Thats how you build a team's future!
udfa's and late picks are how good teams stay good and bad teams become good. finding players like snacks improves the depth of the whole team,as draft picks and f.a. $ are now able to be used elsewhere. now if we can find some diamonds in the rough at offensive skill positions

Let me guess; after this paragraph are the words "With this development and emergence of Damon, Sheldon and Demario as a defensive force, we are lifting the Jets' power ranking from 31st to 30th."
I said it before the season started and I'll say it again: This DL is going to be one of the best in the league. Potentially, the best in the league. The Richardson pick, coupled with Snacks and Ellis, and now a healthy coples is going to be deadly. I am so excited for this team's future right now. All great teams are built in the trenches and right now, the DL is a force.
Agree 100%. Many on this site disagree, but we are one or two players away defensively from being absolutely elite. If Geno pans out for us, next years draft can improve the offense enough to make us a playoff contender and may be even division leader. We are on our way to having a solid and high caliber team.....and doing it right, through the draft mostly.
I just hope Woody and Idzik have the balls to stick it out with the coaches. If Rex, Thurman and Dunbar were gone, guys like Harrison would disappear too.
I agree 100%. I've even posted here that if we draft relatively high in 2014, and we can get our OLB pass threat, our very own Troy Palimalu at Safety, and maybe even Harris' future replacement, then Idzik would have the youngest most dominating defense in the NFL for the next 10 years. He can go all Offense after that.
Very giddy for Sunday to see our front 7 in action with Snacks increased level of play and getting Coples back.
