Boy...with friends like you.... The Jets FO has it's head up it's ass. The whole "Qb competition" was a sham. Anybody with an eye for talent could see that Simms is a dynamic player, has a better arm, quicker release and probably better field vision than the other qb's on the Jets. Now that's not to say that Geno doesn't have a higher ceiling than Simms, but if winning games is a priority, I think Simms would accomplish that this season.
Didn't say we were friends  Just being objective. I think he's got talent, but the FO has to find out what Geno has right now so we know what direction to go in next draft. _
He's not a troll, but if you look through his post history, it's complete garbage. It's basically 900 versions of this:
I stated it before & I'll state it again, I see a more competent QB who has more awareness of the game and a MUCH better arm with a MUCH quicker release. Matt Simms IS the BETTER QB & he should be the one leading the Jets.
What upside does Geno really have over Simms? He can run better.....Simms has the better arm though, it comes down to a matter of draft position.
No, but they could bench him for a while to see what they have in Simms, if Simms shits the bed or is sub-par the coaching staff could easily decide that Smith has more upside and go with him if they want. I mean, what's so crazy about giving each QB 8 games this season and deciding who to commit to next season based on that? People are concerned Geno's career with the Jets will be over if he gets benched..... so that means Milliner's career is over? The "Milliner era" is over?
Simms has been successful against scrubs who aren't even in the league anymore. Geno gives us the best chance to win due to his arm and also his legs... He is multi dimensional unlike Simms who is one dimensional. Geno will take this team to the playoffs so just relax and enjoy the ride.
Since when does having the best arm mean having more upside? Matt Simms may have a better arm than Andrew Luck, but does that mean he has more upside? Tyler Bray arguably had the best arm in last years draft, and he went undrafted. Matt Stafford has a top 3 arm, same with Flacco, but does that translate to reality? And lets not make it seem like Geno has a bad arm. He definitely has a good arm. It may not be elite, but its more than enough to succeed in the NFL.
Not so. Simms has been on this team for several years and actually, has more NFL experience than Geno even if it is only the PS. Simms has certainly looked like he could step in and play well and yeah, that's probably because his dad was a pretty good Qb in his own right. If you think Sanchez is the only one that can get "Pipp'd", think again. Let Geno get hurt and miss time.... This is hardly a "non-story". Don't allow your prejudice cloud your judgement regarding Geno Smith. He could just as easily NOT be the one. Don't morph into a Genonista on us. FTR, I've liked Bama's AJ McCarron as the chosen one since last year's BCS championship game. Yesterday's game against ATM just confirmed what I've been thinking all along. McCarron, not Manziel, will be the next great NFL Qb. Book It!
No way, I called it first! Been a huge AJ fan since last year. I think he's the next Matt Ryan. Perfect mechanics, live arm, very accurate, big time leader. Folks been calling him a game manager or McElroy.20 but he's not. _
Those folks just let their bias get in the way of their vision. Agreed on McCarron. He will be "the one".
The guy has come up with the nickname "genome" which reflects nothing about his play, ability or history and is simply a word that rhymes with geno. You think someone who thinks something so fucking stupid is actually clever is actually capable of having a sensible explanation for his position?
That would only happen if the Jets release him, besides Beno clearly beat him out, in the no holds bard QB competition.
I like Simms, but this is only his second year on the team and his first on the active roster. And it's not really worth it to argue his upside since the people that appreciate a good passer and knew what they saw out of him will never be believed by people that refuse to or cannot understand why. If he does end up getting a shot and earns the start and proves to be as good as some think he can be, the barrage of dismissal in threads like this and the other one will be fun to read after the fact. Matching the names with the backpedals will be like eating a plate of bacon. For a year. Edit: by the way, I never thought that Manziel would amount to anything more than a great college player, but McCarron doesn't really look like the type of QB to me that will translate as the next big thing. Some really sorry passes were thrown in that game and not all were thrown by Johnny Moneyball.
