this is the crux of the issue. It won't matter who is playing Qb. Even hairband couldn't succeed with this bunch to throw the ball to. Memo to Rex: if you're still here next draft, you'd better go for a REAL Wr from a REAL SCHOOL in a REAL CONFERENCE.
On the other hand, I can't see Simms throwing that last int. I DO see him kicking Clyde Gates squarely in his ass after drops.
hi jerseyjay, I'm not contesting your comment above in red, just an FYI: as great as Brady was that game, Michigan won it because Alabama's kicker blew the game by pushing their game-tying PAT kick wide right in OT. just sayin'
I feel the same way... If Smith is going to throw 3 INTs in a quarter next week, I hope he does it in the first quarter so we actually have a chance to put Simms in. Gut feeling is that since Smith is the GM's pet that he could throw 5 INTs in the first QB and still not get benched.
Yea really.. This guy comes in and does nothing but shit on the Jets.. Support your fucking team and stop crying.. Can we vote people to get banned?
Why??? I WHOLEHEARTEDLY AGREE with him, PLAY the BETTER player, Matt Simms IS BETTER than the genome.
Smith needs to show improvement in his decision making. He may have shit wr's to throw to, but he still can't get picked at a 2-3 times per game rate no matter who the Wr's are. If the FO decides to sit Geno so he can get his shit together, perhaps Simms can step in. If nothing else, Simms should be thinking he can get a shot with another franchise just by playing well here. Same goes for Sanchez.
And people still insist on evaluating Simms based on three quarters of play in the most meaningless of the four meaningless preseason games. Not a person on this board can say with any confidence or knowledge that he knows what the Jets have in Simms or that he is better than any other QB on the roster.
I am actually getting more and more concerned about Geno. Geno's picks so far has one common trait - they are ALL underthrown balls. Maybe his mechanics need more fundamental treatment than I expected it to.
A lot of backup players who looked good in the preseason are getting exposed. This is the reason why i'm reluctant about Simms. I think his upside is securing the ball and being a game manager. If he's better than Geno its not by much. Geno is pretty much the all or nothing candidate. And Simms is little risk little reward. Regardless, if Geno continues to make some of these bonehead mistakes coach Rex gotta yank him.
Simms The Jet coaches see Simms every day in practice. We don't. Did anyone really think that the process of developing a young QB was going to be easy?
