But that's the problem...seems like we only sign guys who can sell jerseys or get rid of guys who are due to get paid... There are no Viable WR's on the Market? Not one team would make a trade? I'll hold off full rant mode until we get Holmes Hill & Kerley on the field together but there's no way you can tell me that Braylon woulda hurt us tonight..
Gates and Hill lost the game for us singlehandedly. Braylon would have held onto some of those passes. Hell, any one of those deep throws would have changed the outcome of the game had they not been dropped/fumbled.
Aside from the fumble and the high throw miss (which I don't think was an easy catch) what did Hill drop?
I've been frustrated with his inability to catch the ball yet I've been trying to understand that he's young and raw and at least trying to give him a pass. Not after those comments - that just shows to me he doesn't get it. I don't care if he had 3 TDs and 200 yards receiving, you don't even make those comments after a game like that. And seriously - after the game he had? that devastating fumble? more drops.. If he thinks that's good then we are screwed. He's not going to figure it out. I'd like to see a whole new WR core next fall... top to bottom.
I think he's getting better, but man... you get paid to catch a football, how do you drop it so much? The fumble, IMO, was bad luck. Arm gets a kicked by a guy who's falling. He should be holding the ball with two hands, true, but it was still bad luck. Either way, dude needs to keep improving.
Always gotta be one joker who's way too eager to slap the bust label on a young player. He was a third round pick, has played in a total of 13 games (not even a full season), and through two games this season he's on an 80 catch pace. Ridiculous to slap that bust label on him at this point.
Not ready to call Hill a bust but what really concerns me is that he never catshes the ball with his hands. in fact Holmes is the only WR that catches the ball with his hands. Hill has talent but you can play in the NFL as a body catcher.
I'll take an open reciever and a drop over what we saw last few years: No open recievers leading to 1) thow aways 2) sacks 3) forced throw into tight coverage for an interception
Honestly, how bad can Braylon Edwards be compared to these Jets WRs (excluding Holmes and Kerley). If Kerley is going to be out again, shouldn't we take another look at Braylon...is he really that much worse than Hill and Gates at this point???
Yes, he's worse. At this point, both of those guys can get the separation he can't...and Braylon ain't exactly a good hands guy himself. I love the guy for the role he played in the AFC Championship game runs, but a player doesn't get kicked loose by three teams if he can still play. He's done. Jet fans need to get over their infatuation with him.
He just looks so awkward out there. Other than the obvious (his hands) what frustrates me is his lack of understanding of when to go down and protect the ball. He tries this stupid tough guy "I won't let you take me down" BS and dudes come in and strip him. Still hate Kyle Wilson more.
