You will not see me blaming Geno but it is comical for you guys that blamed mark for everything to now use excuses for geno when Sanchez had it much worse w/ regards to his weapons.
NO, you draft weapons. The QB process is more than a 1 year experiment. Sanchez went to the AFC title game his first two years, Geno has no hope of doing that.
Mark had no weapons but made rookie mistakes with terrible interceptions and throws into coverage. Nobody here wouldn't admit that he had no weapons but they cant excuse the rookie mistakes in his 4th season.
Hopefully they draft the best WR available next year. I don't know if Hill can be a capable number 1. Best case scenario, Hill develops into a steady number 2, Kerley can stay healthy as the slot guy, and we draft a guy and he becomes a legit number 1 ala AJ Green. We need to bring in a TE as well.
The defense is not elite.. the front 4 is.. LB's are slow and don't even get me started on the secondary.. Its not Geno's fault that MM didn't want to use Ivory more.
Hill cannot catch... he needs to get let go.. How can you be a WR in the NFL and can't catch??? That is not something you learn.. At this level he should have that part of his game in the bag.
I love this, stay with me if you can. So you are saying Mark forced throws the past two years into coverage? I agree. Why did he do this? Right, he was throwing to Chaz and the cast from cheers. He didnt have a running game or an NFL OC. Would you rather have had Mark hold the ball and take sacks, Like Geno did last night? Would you rather have had Mark Roll out and throw the ball out of bounds, Like Geno did last night. Would you have had Mark throw scoring zone picks, like Geno did last night....Do you see where I'm going here? Is mark Geno or is Geno Mark? You kill Sanchez for making the same mistakes as Geno but, hey Geno is a rookie so he gets a pass. Thats Carzy logic. This is a win now NFL, you need to develope on the fly. I hope Geno takes these 10 days, looks at some film and come out and Kills the Bills.
Not sure how that analogy applies to the Jets lack of weapons and Genos subsequent lack of confidence in them (catching the ball and route running)... But sure
You cannot compare 4th year vet Sanchez to a rookie like Geno. The 4th year vet isn't supposed to be making those boneheaded mistakes like Sanchez did last year. At least Geno is a rookie and could potentially improve. No one blamed Sanchez for everything stop the hyperbole. But he was one of the biggest problems on this team. Geno is a 2nd round QB, he doesn't get the same leeway as Mark did when it comes to how long the Jets stick with the QB. If Geno doesn't progress and show growth then we have to draft a QB. I hope Geno develops and gets better as the season goes on.
the jets D are still questionable. I mean seriously, the Bucs game was shit and surprisingly the Pats game was shit. Its hard, imo, to get a good feel for the defense when both teams we faced this season totally sucked ass on offense. Seriously, if Brady had his weapons, this game is over at the half. Defense to this very day cant seem to line up properly and is confused with the hurry up. Shit, we got burned multiple times in the first half. Cro got burned too. The Bills game is next, that might not be a good test too. Atlanta will so ill wait to see how they perform against them.
The backers are anything but slow. How many times did you hear Maydock praise Davis and his speed. But, you probably have this team scouted better than him right? Harris looks faster to me and Barns is quick as hell. The issue is the back end right now. But make no mistake about it, this is a top 5 NFL defense. So yes, the rookie has a great D last night that kept him in the game.
we didn't have an elite D in 2009 and our run game was good not great. We had great stat years from both units though.
Ummm, yes we should. Geno was the best QB in a very weak QB class, next year's QB class will dwarf this class. If we have the opportubity to get one of the top 3-4 QBs next year we have to do it. All of them will be better than Geno in the long run. What Luck, Aikman, Manning and Kelly had in common were that they were they were clearly franchise type QBs. I'm not convinced Geno is and I'd rather grab one of the top QBs next year than gamble that Geno develops. If we have any shot at Bridgewater, it would be criminal not to take him. JMHO. _
Sanchez gets killed for making rookie mistakes because he's not a rookie anymore. Again SANCHEZ. IS. NOT. A ROOKIE. This really shouldn't be too difficult for anyone to grasp yet the Sanchez fans continue to ignore the simple fact. Also, Geno did things last night that Sanchez still hasn't learned to do. Like throw the ball away when the play is clearly a lost cause and complete a screen pass. The Sanchez fans in here are really sounding ridiculous and they don't even realize it.
Why not? I can only speak for myself but when Sanchez was a rookie, and even in his second year, I cut him the exact same slack I'm cutting Geno. Sorry, but I won't criticize Geno now the way I criticize Sanchez now because one is a rookie, one isn't. Now come later this season if Geno's not maturing my criticism will become a little more harsh. In year two if he's not showing progress it'll become abit more harsh. In year three and beyond He'll get graded by myself EXACTLY on the same merits as Sanchez today. But I'm treating Geno EXACTLY the same way I treated Sanchez...Okay not quite Exactly, I had wanted Sanchez to start his career on the bench because I was wary of his very limited college experience, But I put that on the coaches not on Sanchez, if anything that bought Sanchez even more slack in his rookie season. And that's the point, Geno IS, by many, being treated EXACTLY the way Sanchez was his rookie year. The Fallacy is to treat him exactly as you would a 5 year veteran.
He's in his 2nd year lets see how this year plays out. IMO he can be a solid number 2 at best. We need a true big physical deep threat receiver. If Geno proves himself this year, we need to start drafting weapons for the QB.
Stats tell the whole story over the course of a season, show me the points scored and points allowed and turnover +/- of every team in the league and I can come within a game or two of computing their exact record for that season. There will always be some variables Redzone picks, Pick 6's etc that throw things out of kilter...but over a season everything tends to balance out within the statistical noise variable.
