If it was any good their receivers wouldn't have been dropping balls left and right too.

Yeah, they make this stuff called "Liquid Chalk". Does a pretty good job of keeping your hands dry. Might have been something similar to that.

i know people keep saying receivers kept dropping the ball, but it was also raining hard as heck, does anyone think it could be b/c of that and not that we have crappy receivers?

They were dropping balls in the first half, when it was perfectly dry, too

Whatever it was it's OK because it was Brady and the Pats.

    Bullshit calls last night:

Pass Interference on 3rd down 1st drive: The ball sailed 15 yards away from the play and the ball was not close to catchable.

Overturned Edelman Fumble: He had both hands on the ball took 2 steps and turned up field.

Overturned Gates TD: This is a tough one because there was NO conclusive evidence of why or when the ball popped out. Play should have stood because of this.

Fight at the end: Apparently the Jets were the only team involved in the fight hence the laundry thrown at the Jets only.

Frankly, I was convinced the Thompkins TD was going to stand due to Pats factor, was really surprised it didnt.

    What am I missing?

Mayock kept saying it was a catch, his hands were on top of the ball and the ball was resting on the ground

What? No he didn't. He REPEATEDLY said that the GROUND aided in the "catch".

Then he saw the replay. As stated above he said no catch with each replay shown after that.

This one still baffles me. There was no evidence that the ball HIT THE GROUND. I mean it clearly popped out but i didnt see it hit the ground. So either in my eyes it should ahve been an INT or a TD.

Edelman never really had possession the ball wasn't secured.

Gates has got to go, why is he catching balls with his body? He did the same thing when a pass bounced off his shoulder pads. He may be fast but like Hill he's clueless when it comes to catching the ball and holding onto it.

the NFL re-thinks things way too much. Too many little nuances and hard to define "rules".

What's the point of instant replay? To get calls right or to make things more complicated? Both the Edelman play and Gates play should've stood as called.
When you have to start analyzing a play based off assumed movements or lack of movements, that's when you know you are over-analyzing.

This is a rant, I know, but this crap started years ago and it's getting out of hand.
I'm a football guy through and through, but one thing I like about baseball is that they keep it simple.

A guy is either safe or out - he's not safe because the baseman didn't secure the ball all the way though. He's not out because "he didn't make a baseball move on way to the bag". We're not taking 20 minutes real-time, watching replay after replay, deciding if his foot was "on way" to the bag...

The gates play is a touchdown and the Edelman fumble was a fumble. I'm sure there's 734973209737 little bogus reasons why it could go either way, but can we just take a step back and realize how stupid these things are?

It rained all four quarters. It just wasn't the insane downpour as it was in the second half.
