Like he had so much support in his one pre-season game... Right now, Simms is the 2nd string qb on the depth chart. For whatever reason*, there's a good chance we will "know" in a real game situation. *For all the alarmists, I'm not wishing injury on any player. ...maybe just a really bad stomach flu.
You can't have it both ways. You have folks saying that Simms would've done better. That's not fair to Geno.
Fair? Fuck off with that. This is a message board. People are allowed to wonder. I like what I saw from Geno. Doesn't change the fact that I think we may have a better passer on the sideline. And the "we will never know" comment was cute. If we do end up finding out, how much fairness will you show to Simms?
There's a chance we may eventually find out, the only problem is, it might be when Simms is on another team throwing 4TD's against us one game.
I dont know how I would be able to watch the Jets games if they let Simms go and than Simms turned out to be really good. I've never been this high on an un proven quarterback and if I was right and he left, i'd go crazy.
I'm a believer Simms showed enough in pre-season to deserve to play. I still don't believe Simms or Geno are ready. The Bucs have a very good D and Geno held up very well. We got a little lucky on the calls against Tampa and their O was a fire drill which against our D was a mismatch. You can't discount what Geno did. The reality is the league right now is a mistake filled exhibition that will settle down in a couple of weeks when teams have tape and start to execute game plans and make other adjustments. Geno did really well. If you look at Sanchez stats in 3 of his first 4 start opening games, he was really good, including a great first game as a pro. It's how he adjusts that's going to make him a big time QB or something less. Truth is we don't know what Geno is or Simms is. What we do know is both of them can throw the football pretty well. I would say that's not a bad place to be right now, especially compared to where we were at the end of last year.
Does anyone get the feeling that Simms won't be on the Roster in 2014 but instead, competing for a starting job somewhere else?
I hope we keep him. We don't really know what we got with Geno, and if Sanchez is cut after the season, he might get a chance to prove himself.
with our Wr's, I doubt if even Peyton Manning would win. Cromartie was right. He IS the best Wr's on the roster.
Geno is better as long as he runs. If he isn't going to run and just sits back to pass I'd rather have Simms out there.
Hahahaha this is bumped? You can't bench QBs after one bad gmae. If they go a string of bad games, you then make the move. What happens if Simms starts, and has as a bad game in his 2nd game? Brady Quinn time? This is dumb, you let Geno play it out and if he strings together 5-6 games like this, you make the move. Now, you're being silly
Based off of what? You don't think Simms gets "sacked" this many times? If our targets can't get separation from the defenders, they won't be open and our CS does not want our guys to force anything.
I hate to say it, but if Simms started tonight, we would have had more dropped passes. Our receiving corp stinks.
