If they did lose that game I think there might've been more heat on Rex's defense letting TB march right down the field and take the lead and for his lack of awareness in stopping the clock. If anything, that penalty that allowed Folk to hit the field goal took Rex off the hook more so than anything related to MM or Geno's performance...
Whatever. Attack me...whatever floats your boat. Its the general consensus, as I said, that Sanchez woukd have been the starter pre injury. Or that Garrard wouldnt see opening day. But hey, youre akways ascerbic, but rarely correct.
THAT should only prove to you what kickspittle douchebags the media are, They let him off easily, on almost blowing the game ...despite all the high draft round tapent he has been afforded. Well, the blown coverage was my fault ..next question.
Yes. If the OL plays better early..gets a running game.,and they go to the screen game...Geno puts up at least 10 more points. I wonder if its because they gameplanned the first two together. Be hard to telk before week 3.
Only referring to calls in the passing hame. Quick slants, the occaisional throw outsode.like what Marty calls And all the throws the...others say couldnt be completed, my argument has always been against the coryell based bullshit weve been running for 7 years, And Byz knows it because we discussed the Erhardt-perkins playbook Weiss developed, and Beli modified. (basically icorporating Airrraid, then Chip Kelley along the way)
Wrong, buddy. I am akways, akways correct. Now that some of your grand proclamations have fallen apart like a loose load of poop, you seem to have lapsed into angry hater mode. Don't be surprised when people call you on your bullshit. You have brought every single ounce of it on yourself.
WC was run in preparation for the NE game. Gives Belicheck a lot more to prepare for. WC didn't work too well against the Bucs b/c they were stacking the line the whole game. The WC has given us some of our best plays and if we only run it 3-4 times a game it forces the 'other team' to direct precious practice time to prepare for it. I'm all for it.
MnM is a definite improvement as OC but I still was left scratching my head on the two third down wild cat plays. I think we should do away with running the WC on third down and more then 1. Still a solid game called by Marty.
I said this once before, but we have the best coaching staff we have had in many years. Top to bottom. I really hope that we can keep it together for another year, and Rex isnt fired (which in turn could change the whole coaching staff).
I won't anoint MM the savior or anything, not at this early stage, but yesterday was the best called Jet game of the last three years. No doubt, he's a stark improvement over Schittenheimer and Tony Morono.
I'm not so sure this is true. But the receiving routes were a welcome sight. The running calls were predictable and ineffective, to the point where they were relying on the wildcat to gain any yards on the ground.
No one was running on that Bucs team yesterday. MM showed the run just enough to prevent their pass rushers from teeing off on Geno.
Maybe it's just that the OL isn't completely fluid in zone blocking, but I was expecting something more creative than what we saw. We have good backs. They were completely wasted yesterday. Maybe we'll see something different on Thursday. At least I hope we do. But I'm not convinced that this was the best called offensive game of the past three years. I have higher expectations. And Geno was the primary reason why the rush didn't affect him. His mobility and confidence in the pocket. He was under duress for what seemed like 80 percent of the offensive snaps.
Mornhinweg called a good game. I particularly liked the use of the Wildcat, both to take pressure off Geno Smith early and also because the Jets regular running game was non-existent for most of the day. If the Jets had been running the ball well then no Wildcat, just more effective runs early on taking the pressure off Geno. Absent that effective running game the Jets had to do something and Kerley and Powell in the Wildcat was what made sense. The nice little side benefit is that teams now really have to prepare for the Wildcat when they face the Jets. The more they have to do that the less time they can spend figuring out how to contain Geno when he scrambles.
This is exactly what I thought. Thank you. I don't think too many people know what a screen is. Throwing to an RB or throwing into the flat is not a screen.
i think the wildcat calls were made to give geno the occasional breather. allowed geno to just watch for a few plays when his brain might have been running hot. can't say i loved them, but also can't say they were bad. i guess they could have just handed off, as well. but the wildcat call could at least put a kernel of doubt into the mind of the defense.
Chris Ivory should be taking some Wildcat snaps. He's the kind of player that if you get him one-on-one with a defender and he makes the guy miss you're getting some real estate out of the deal.
