I'm enjoying how he's breaking things down on the video screen for the media...kind of giving them some facts so they can't run off the handle like they normally do.

The thing is the 3rd down D calls. And other teams ability to convert 3rd and longs. Some of those 100 plus yards by Vincent Jackson were on 3rd downs. We've seen it now for years with Rex. The Jets D stops the opponent cold the first two downs and gives up a big play on 3rd down. Maybe too many blitz packages and calls on those plays opening up open areas in the defense when too many guys go in for the kill. Not that I'm complaining about the D yesterday. When you hold an opponent down to one "true" TD a game you're playing good defense.

One of the best things I took from this was the amazing speed of Davis.

Demario was on the FAR hash and still chases Vincent Jackson down...

    Holy shit.

Honestly, if the Jets fire him because of a bad season, other teams WILL be on line one to hire him as a DC, maybe even as a Head Coach. Respect Rex

Davis was all over the place. Definitely, saw his # all over the field.

Game saving tackle by that man.

    Sheldon has a HIGH motor.

It was funny watching Richardson jumping on Pace after the sack. You can tell Pace is like damn kid, give me a min. D line looks like it is going to be a lot of fun.

Rex took it too personally that he messed up on the design during the long Vincent Jackson catch...I think he actually messed up with player assignments there...So if that is the case then Rex did almost blow it too

haha I noticed that, Every dman wants his moment in the sun when they get a sack and Shelden wouldnt even let him do that. He straight up hopped on him.

No defense is going to stop every 3rd down all of the time. We did stop most of them, and one TD is more than acceptable for any defense.

I have always loved Rex. It's not hard.

The Davis play was awesome to see.

The Jets weren't perfect on D, but you can't really expect perfection. Hopefully Rex will improve his clock management performance, although I remember other clock management problems happening in the last few years as well. At some point that can cost you those close games, so they need to fix whatever the communication issues are.

The Jets also got extremely lucky that Davis was alert and believed in himself enough to make that tackle which saved the game. Rex said that that play should've been different but he mis-communicated what he wanted them to do. That was the only big mistake on D, and hopefully that type of thing won't happen the rest of the year.

For those mistakes, the defense did do a lot right- they held a former rookie pro bowl RB to like 2.7 yards per carry, which is excellent. Also did pretty well on 3rd downs, although Jackson gave the Jets a lot of trouble and it seemed like he could get a 10 - 13 yard reception on 3rd and 10 to bail Freeman out time after time.

The D-line looked very good, and hopefully it'll be able to shut down running games and really get at QBs all season long:)

    Thanks for posting.

    The speed on Davis, WOW.

Also on the pick, was that Harris who faked blitzing then book it back to get underneath Vjax? Even if the throw is on target Harris was in a really good spot

I'm really tired of this take. He is trying to take responsibility for someone else's mistake. He has already stated multiple times that it was a communication error, and people are throwing him under the bus for it.

If I were to bet, I'd say it was Thurman that sent the wrong assignments onto the field. Rex is too smart of a defensive mind to purposefully leave the one guy uncovered that had been shredding the Jets passing defense uncovered the entire night.
