Theres so much discussion about geno, winslow, dline but im still worried about the running game... Chris Ivory had 15 yrds on 10 carries and bilal had 29 yrds on 12. Having a solid back is really important to rookie qbs, and these guys are performing worse than shonne greene last year... Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4
It's one game, against the top run defense a year ago, where the game plan was most likely to stop the run and make the rookie beat them. I wouldn't worry just yet.
I guess this is only the first game but not confident at all with chris Ivory being the guy Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4
It had more to do with the run blocking and penetration the Bucs got, from the way I saw it. I mean Ivory is quick, and runs violent. But if he's getting hit in the backfield (like he was against the Bucs), you can't really do anything.
Something I noticed today ... were there any real nice rushing numbers from any single player today? Not from what I recall ... found that interesting
Even in preseason we weren't running the ball well. But I hope they address that issue because we need the run game to help take pressure off Geno.
It was 100% the OL. The RBs were facing 2 men in their face before they even got to the LOS all day long. They need to sure that up a whole lot.
Ivory definitely doesn't have my "confidence" by any stretch of the imagination, but i'm willing to give him more than one week. Bilal Powell is what he is, he'll never be a 3rd down back.
I think you gotta chalk today up to the dominance of the Bucs front 7. It's one of the best in football. Powell didn''t do much either.
And although the Bucs run defense was top ranked last year stat wise, it might be due to the fact that thier pass defense was horrible.
Both sides are saying the same thing. The Jets D shut down Martin who is a very good RB. I think it was more 2 top end rush Defenses doing what they do. If we don't run well against the Bills week 3 then I will be worried. Pats actually have a pretty good run D as well but we should still be more successful than today.
It's been a down week for the top tier running backs. Ray Rice: 36 yards Gore: 44 (on 21 carries) Spiller: 41 yards McFadden: 48 yards Peterson: 93 (not way too high for his standards) Marshawn Lynch: 43 yards Doug Martin: 65 yards Trent Richardson: 47 yards Forte: 50 yards Pretty sure the only rushers to break 100 yards were Shane Vereen and Terrelle Pryor.
exactly! just seems odd ... A.P. broke a 77 yarder on his 1st play and then only got about 16 more the rest of the way
