I'm feeling it this year. This just might be the year of the return of the NY Sack Exchange. There were only 3 sacks but there was a good dominating vibe and lots of pressures.
And we didn't even have Coples. Really like what Barnes showed too. With the great play from the d line I wouldn't be surprised to see him get double digit sacks. He almost had two today.
Absolutely - not only the most exciting thing we have on our team but bona fide one of the best in the league.
The "only" three sacks would be 48 for the year if we do it every week. It was a very good game by the front 7.
That Wilkerson sack today I felt it in my loins my God, amazing sack - and I loved seeing Richardson get double teamed - going to open up things for everyone else.
Lol I had a feeling a thread like this was going to pop up, ill say this, if the line can stay healthy and consistent its scary to face. QB's hate having pressure up the middle and that's what the line is built to do but its only week 1 and Carl Nicks was out. I need to see a bit more before I agree. Not sure about that, based on production I'd say big Mo is our best pass rusher. Sent from my HTCEVODesign4G using Tapatalk 2
I noticed that 3 of our DLmen have -son as the suffix to their last name. Could be something like Rex & Sons or something ridiculous like that.
One thing I noticed during the game today that I really liked was Rex using his guys' athleticism in unique ways. He had Barnes shooting the A Gap (between C & G) on a few occasions, letting him try and use his speed/burst to get to the QB quickly. Once Coples is back, they could have some serious speed/burst on the interior rush with him, Barnes, Richardson and Wilkerson. Not to mention Big Snacks showing some good penetration and Ellis pushing some guys around. ----- Another play I noticed that showed how athletic the Jets' D-Line is... They had the NT & DT (they were in a 4-3, it was Richardson - Ellis) tun a stunt where Ellis looped behind Richardson who crashed to the right. Ellis exploded through the hole and hit the RB for a loss. Awesome to watch.
Hard to disagree with you, but I Coples is definitely a better pass rusher. Not saying Wilkerson can't rush the passer (I think he can be a ten sack per year guy), but Coples has all the potential in the world as a pass rusher. We saw it towards the end of last year.
All this defense needs is a OLB pass rushing threat to go along with our d line and we could one day have an historic defense.
Potential is worth shit in this league you have to produce, I agree that couples has the potential to be a better pass rusher though. Sent from my HTCEVODesign4G using Tapatalk 2
The d-line was beyond beastly today, holding a top RB in check in Martin. AND this was all without Coples. Hell of a game by Sheldon Richardson. 8 tackles and .5 sack, but it seemed like he was in the backfield on every play.
