Defensive Line- Most of the game they dominated the Bucs offensive line, held Martin in check (and i was concerned because Martin is the type of back the Jets struggle against) and made Freeman look awful. LB corps- Much was made against this being a weak unit but for 1 week they played well. Barnes was beasting coming around the end (Jets have a good one with him). Harris was playing very well (shows you he needs some guys in front of him so he can do work) and Davis may of had the biggest play of the game running down Jackson to save a TD. Winslow- He still has some left in the tank, easily Geno's favorite target. LaVonte David- Thanks for that hit to Geno :metal: SIDENOTE I won't give a game ball to Geno but he played well. He showed some solid awareness in the pocket, ran when there was room, showed nice touch on his passes. With the little amount of time he had to prepare for week 1, he did well against what I consider a top 10 defense in TB.
The whole front 7 played great. Hill had a good game. Showed some good hands on a couple plays. Bohanon I thought played well too. Geno recovered from a bad first half and managed the game well in the 2nd. Our D as a whole played great until that last drive which I feel like I've said too many times about our Ds.
Yeah I maybe tough on that aspect...a top run defense...he did this without no help from the run game. But he did have that awful fumble that setup a Buc TD and that INT to David he overthrew Ivory by a mile.
If there were 3 game balls, I would do: Demario Davis. The hustle, I mean he might not have played a lot or made many play, but the hustle. He chased down Jackson and gave us a shot. Winslow. DL. And then breaking my 3 games ball idea, give on to Geno b/c it's his first win in the NFL. Needs something to commemorate it.
Davis catching Jackson from behind for a game winning shoe string tackle deserves at least a kiss. Davis is FAST
You can't manage the game when there is zero running game. Geno Smith won the game by being our entire offense. Ivory is borderline cut-worthy and Powell was atrocious.
i think i saw an interview with davis or his position coach talking about how davis is trying to lead by example. he did it on that play, for sure
Of course Geno gets a game ball. He is a rookie and won his first game. Uneven first half aided by some bad play calling but was great in the second half when he had to be.
Yet he stood tall in adversity, did not sulk and played his heart out! He led his team to victory . Wait until he gets more experience! He will be a beast!
Geno absolutely deserves a game ball, rushed for 40 yards and set up the game winning field goal with a little help from the Bucs.
I heard that his leadership abilities are increbile, I think after we drafted him or this offseason or something. I mean you hit it on the nail, he showed it on the field. Booked it and caught up to VJax which helped us win. You gotta believe everyone saw that and took notice.
Demario Davis for chasing down a WR from behind, kid has speed. Sent from my HTCEVODesign4G using Tapatalk 2
