Not sure about his qualifications, but if the measurement of a good QB is points per game given to the other team, Sanchez is by FAR the best QB on this roster.

What a short memory everyone has. Was there even 1 game last year that Sanchez didn't directly or indirectly give away 7-10 points?

Wish he was being cut for good. Look at the horrible teams this guy was already cut from. If you can't make it on those teams you must suck. Only the Jets can see treasure in every others team trash.

Or he was intended to be the 3rd QB on the depth chart, 4th when Sanchez came back. Simms was already declared the 2nd quarterback before Quinn was cut.

Why did we even bother to sign him if we were just going to cut him before Sunday? To give him the playbook? Might as well have just signed him Monday otherwise, it's not like ninety teams were bidding on him.

The only way you can make the case Sanchez is even the 2nd best QB right now is if you have Simms as the best QB. Geno sure as shooting ain't better than Sanchez from what I've seen, and Brady Quinn never really was better than him either.

 at saying people have short memories while strictly referring to LAST YEAR ONLY and ignoring his playoff success prior and the year he had a 2:1 TD to pick ratio or him putting up the #6 best average QB rating in NFL post season history. Yeah must be my short memory since I remember his entire career rather than just the past year and a half!!! And who says nobody dresses 3 QBs for a game?

Browning Nagle had one of the best games of Jets History history on his first start. Then he got worse. Some people in life get worse. You can cling to his first game forever, or realize that he simply got worse. it happens. Some people regress. Not all his fault, but it is reality. Maybe he would have been better with better receivers. Or with better backs. Or if it was 78 degrees. Maybe maybe maybe. But he got worse. It happens. Sometimes life is not fair.

Well, Sanchez undeniably outplayed Geno in the preseason and clearly won the competition and but for the injury would be starting tomorrow.

Nobody knows who the hell is a better QB. Could be Geno, could be Simms, could be Sanchez.

Sanchez was fair in preseason as a 5th year QB. Yes he barely outplayed a raw rookie! wow. Get the bust ready for insertion into the Hall of Shame!

You answered your own question ... probably so he could get a start on studying and learning so he could be more effective helping Geno - OR (really bad scenario) he can be somewhat ahead of the game should he have to start if Geno REALLY struggles.

That has never happened. That has never come close to happening.

No one is suggesting he's even mediocre, but the worst QB in the history of the NFL beat out Geno this year.

    Them's the facts.

come on ... he's not the worst in history! I've seen 17 different QB's on my team since Marino retired and I would take Sanchez over more than half of them.

Quinn is insurance if Sanchez starts throwing and has problems. Once he is back on the roster Quinn is gone again. The only reason you cut Quinn and re-sign him is because you know he won't last the year with the team. If you don't need him as the backup for 16 weeks you know Sanchez will be back sooner rather than later.

Funny thing is there are some long time die hard Fin fans that don't think Marino was any good.

    Best pure thrower ever IMHO.

How you could watch him and think any different is beyond my comprehension ... such a beast. I hate to hear what they think of the guys we have had since lol ...

    Not gonna happen lol ...

I think 3,800 yards should be a reasonable goal for him.

I will def miss watching Reggie make highlight runs but I am really excited for Lamar Miller's POTENTIAL (I know, I know ... potential doesn't pay the bills)

but I like Wallace's ability to stretch the field and have defenses respect him. Hartline is solid. Gibson is a question mark in the slot, but was a good player for the Rams.

I am looking for the rookie Dion Sims to step up eventually at TE. Charles Clay can do ok for now, was really seeing big things for Keller until he got hurt. He and Tannehill and a nice chemistry developing in training camp ... but such is life in the NFL. Our defense will be lights out and carry the team most weeks IMO.
