Holmes/Plaxico/Edwards werent coveted by teams because of their off field issues, not because of talent. Edwards had the DUI and issues in the locker room. Plaxico went to friggin jail. Holmes was suspended by the league, and hell he was still coveted and we had to overpay to keep him.

to say that sanchez made ANY of those guys, when all 3 were pro bowlers with other teams prior to coming here is just riddiculous.

Edwards didn't have a ton of off field issues, the worst guys in the league will still get decent contracts. Braylon got nothing in SF.

Plax was in jail for YEARS, he wasn't picked up until late in the year last year.

To think he had this incredible talent is silly, he had good talent in 2009, good/very good in 2010, average in 2011, worst in the league in 2012. He's NEVER had elite weapons, he's never had great talent around him.

Did any of you hear Ty Law on Boomer and Carton this morning?

Boomer -- "what was the mindset of the Patriot defense leading up to their games against Mark Sanchez?"

Law ---- "We felt like this ... Just be patient, and eventually he'll give the game to you"

You think the Patriots are the only team that felt this way about facing Sanchez? And they weren't even a big time defense. Is this really the guy we want leading our offense every week?

Now I suppose people will mention the playoff win, but that really isn't the point. The point is ... When the opposing players and DC have zero respect for your QB's ability to make good decisions and game changing plays, and they don't have to worry about bigtime production coming from the most important player on the field, it's a problem that effects everyone else.

Forget about all the stats and analysis.
Players know who can play, and who can't.

If Mark is as bad as many posters are saying, then you guys are pretty much admitting the Jets with an average QB should have:

    1. Won the Super Bowl in 2009 season.
    2. Won the Super Bowl in 2010 season.
    3. At least made the playoffs in 2011, probably win a few games.
    4. Finish at least 9-7, maybe a Wild Card spot.

    Am I right here?

No, I don't believe that this linear reasoning is the least bit applicable to the modern NFL. The playoffs are somewhat of a crapshoot. Anything can happen in a single-game elimination format. All I would feel safe in stating is that, with a quarterback providing average statistical production, we would have been a higher scoring, more proficient, and better overall team that won more games than we actually did over the relevant four year period in question. That's really about it.

Edwards numbers tanked after he left the Jets. Cotchery too. Holmes caught same # of TDs with Sanchez and Roethlisberger.

the talent around him has never had a below average or even average qb. always bottom 5. he brought the talent level way down. he has been an anchor for this team.

he was no worse last year then any other year, he just no longer had guys to make him look better.

pretty much. maybe not win the superbowl in 09/10, but certainly make it both years.

certainly make the playoffs all 4 years.

Rex Ryan already answered that question.

Ty Law never played for the Patriots in a season in which Mark Sanchez QB'd the Jets. Not sure what the exchange was about but it can't have been about how the Patriots felt about facing Mark Sanchez.

Some of this is exaggerated, but I definitely agree with your basic point. Why is the analysis on Mark so decidedly one-sided from Sanchez apologists? More specifically, why do they always say "Mark has never had elite offensive talent" without ever saying "Mark's receivers always had a mediocre to outright poor quarterback throwing to them"? This all goes to the larger point that Sanchez defenders, without fail, approach the debate from the premise that Sanchez has a significant amount of talent and that it has been the set of detrimental circumstances around him that have failed doomed his overall performance . . . As opposed to, simply considering that Sanchez's innate ability to play the position (including subjective factors like natural awareness/confidence) may just be inadequate for him to prosper in the NFL.

I don't agree with the bolded. His decision-making last year was preposterously bad.

Sanchez personally had 52 turnovers over the last two years, how can anybody defend him?

Yeah the Patriots were hella patient in 2010 in that playoff game. They waited so long, they didn't even want to move the football on offense.
