manuel is almost healthy, what sense would it make for Buffalo to acquire him and most of his salary?
I am inclined to think his release will be sooner rather then later. Signing Quinn makes me believe that Sanchez is on his way out the door.
I think that was more of a need w/ Mark being out longer than originally anticipated but if Quinn proves to be a capable backup they could let him go so there isn't any controversy or division on the team if Geno struggles.
We think he is almost healthy... It doesn't make sense at all in terms of his salary, but I'm sure Buffalo would rather have Sanchez out there with all those weapons around him instead of Jeff Teul. EJ could be out the next few weeks... We don't know.. Just because he practiced doesnt mean shit.
if we released him and he cleared waivers(like he would) then sure, there's no risk but trading for him makes no sense unless they thought he could start long term but that is why they drafted Manuel.
I think we should pay half the 8 million to him and have another team take on the rest... Buffalo... If Manuel goes down, the Bills are royally fucked.. Remember, Kolb is on IR.. The Bills are in a win now mode... They aren't handing to keys over to Teul and hoping for the best. It's really in their best interest to have a capable backup.
The Bills are like us, looking to give a job to a young QB in year 1 of a new regime. If we lose geno we are screwed too so if that is the case for Buf why not for us? why get rid of him? The ONLY reason to let him go at this point is if we think it is dividing the LR or will be.
I think the Jets are going to move Simms into that backup QB spot.. We are in a much better position in terms of backup QB's than Buffalo is... I also think that the Jets just want to move on from Sanchez already.. I think they are tired of the QB controversy that will surround this team as long as Sanchez is here, and want to cut ties at this point. I really wouldn't be surprised if he was released in the next few days. Signing Quinn as our 3rd QB just solidifies this thinking.
I don't think so.. I think Mark is going to be out a significant amount of time. They could be planning to place him on the PUP.
It's stupid for Mark to ask for a release at this point. He should collect his (huge) paycheck and walk away from the team in the silence of the night. Waiting until the season is up won't damage his prospects at all for landing on a new team next year. He's damaged goods right now, and most teams in the NFL are set at QB right now. So... slim pickings, and reduced salary. I can understand if the Jets make the moves unprompted, but for Sanchez to ask for it? Bad move.
I meant Mark not being healthy. if he is he's starting Sunday and Quinn isn't here but they needed another QB w/ Mark being unavailable.
You are right, because he wasn't on it during preseason.. I don't know what the hell they are going to do..
IF, and this is a big IF, Sanchez were traded this week (not likely) the most probable team would be the Raider's and then ONLY if the Jets ate most of his money this season.
I just heard that Idzik brought in Quinn on the recommendation of Seattles GM. So I think this particular move is just to get an upgrade from Harrel. Actually keeping 4 QBs raises questions about Sanchez's health though.
Agreed...it's also a sign that Woody is hemmoraging cash and the Revis trade signals 2-3 years of horrible teams. We're going to be lousy until 2015 and maybe 2016 unless we get lucky in the draft.
Mark Sanchez took down the Texans, Patriots and Titans his first 3 starts. Probably had less weapons on offense than Geno has right now and a better defense than Geno has. Do people remember that? Seems like no.
