Nonsense. The Jets need players in the secondary, so his spot on this team isn't in jeopardy because of an abundance of talent at the position for the Jets. If the Jets give up on him it is because of what he has shown on the field -- nothing. Would another team pick him up and hope they can get more out of him? Absolutely. But giving him a chance isn't the same as saying he has shown the skill and ability to succeed and many other teams need, and thus he would automatically just start for many other teams in the nfl based on what he has shown with the Jets. Such an assertion is, quite frankly, absolutely fucking stupid and based on absolutely nothing he has shown in the league. He was a small time player that excelled against small competition at a small school that just happens to get big attention. He is not an nfl caliber starter.
Much like Greene and Slauson last year, Wilson is in the last year of his rookie contract and is probably not going to be a Jet next year.
Ok, for the sake of argument, you're the GM of one of those teams. What would you give up for him in a trade?
I still don't know how he hasn't been moved to free safety. It's been the most obvious move for the last couple seasons
First post here. Kyle Wilson has value in my opinion. Late round pick or possibly another average player. He has not shown he is worth the first round pick we gave to him. He is an average player. I think we as Jets fans have been a little spoiled with the defensive backfield over the past few years. They were saying on ESPN NY he could be traded. I don't see it but I guess we will see.
You are just wrong, stop speculating. Per Rex last Night http://www.newyorkjets.com/news/art...Business/2f766b5e-e77e-4249-b683-97287de911f1 On the decision to play Kyle Wilson… We really wanted to get Kyle some returns. I think that was the main thing because he is our backup kick returner and punt returner. We wanted to get him some returns. And with that being said, you don’t just want to throw him out there just to do that specifically, so we put him out there on the corner and let him have at it.
PS. What happened to Wilson having his "best training camp yet?" Some BS that was Rex you fucking idiot. I hate when he talks up players, and they don't prove him right. It just makes you not want to believe anything he says in the first place. __________________ *Official GS3 Supporter, & TGG's '12-'13 Pick'em Runner-Up Lighten up. If you are looking to trade him in particular what should he say? He sucks as a CB. For Pete sake thank God you guys are not coaches.
I'm not in favor of cutting him, but to say he's better than many starting corners in this league seems like a stretch.
Most maybe not but he starts on a fair amount of teams. He's no where near as bad as people here make him out to be. Their biggest knock on him is that he claps his hands when the offense doesn't make a completion. How dare he show emotion! If KW was an UDFA everyone here would love him. He's a bad first round pick but that doesn't mean he's a terrible player. It certainly doesn't mean we should cut him.
It is the bosie state system that works for that team. Titus young looked like a future all star on that team.
It is hard for DB's to make it in the NFL. How many CB's were chosen in the first round , That wound out being busts? You need speed to make it in collage. You need speed + technique to make it to the big leagues. Kyle is not covering TCU or NU WR's anymore.
I've long supported Kyle Wilson. While never rising to an above average player type status he IS serviceable & would indeed start for many teams including possibly the Pats. That said..Cutting him may actually be a good idea. They've preached competition all through TC & frankly Wilson has been at best the 4th best corner on the team. What better way to send a message to the team that competition MEANS something than cutting an underperformming & STILL YOUNG former 1st rounder.
Ok, so explain how this team was ranked #2 last year in yards allowed passing. If your going to say that teams ran on us, then explain how the Jets also were ranked 2nd in completion %? If Kyle Wilson didn't do anything good last year then how the fuck are those numbers possible? Don't say safety play either, since LaRon Landry was ranked as one of the worst safety's against the pass, and the fact that Yeremiah Bell is also not a coverage safety, more of an in-the-box safety. Explain how these stats were possible if Kyle Wilson played like shit all the time. Like I said before, he did mess up many times, but he was also reliable.
I wouldn't give much for him, since he's nothing special. He can play the game though. I won't say that he's the #1 corner on many teams, but he is atleast the #2 on a lot of them.
