Yeah Ian Rappaport just said on NFLN that Sanchez is likely out week 1, so Geno will be the starter week 1.

    Graham Harrell era begins!

I kid, let's throw Geno into the fire and see what happens.

This is pretty ideal, actually, as far as I'm concerned.

Geno gets to start, but it doesn't completely burn the bridge to bring Sanchez back if they want/need to. This was the one major concern a lot of people expressed - if you went to Geno, then you couldn't go to back to Mark, but if you started with Mark, then you could always switch to Geno.

I kind of like how this has turned out...

Agreed. This was the ONLY situation where they would be able to start Geno week one and go back to Mark if necessary.

    agreed, and agreed.

I'd be just fine if they went with Sanchez week 2 after smith in week 1, in fact given the shortened time I prefer that reality, I have faith in smith but a 3 day practice week to start off is a little too much to ask for at this point.

the only thing I hope is that should one seem to be on more of a roll than the other they stick with that guy.

For instance if smith plays both games and does particularly well, let him continue no matter what you were planning to do with sanchez.

    I like this scenario-

Geno starts 2 games. If he doesnt do well, you just move back to Sanchez and say he had won the competition anyway and then let Geno sit and learn. If Sanchez sucks after that point, you go back to Geno who by that point will be better prepared. If Geno does well in his start(s), you can just say you are rolling with the hot hand like the 49ers did with Kaepernick.

That article strikes me as pure speculation. I didn't read anything that was legitimate news. Is that just me?

You don't have to make anything up if its speculation. I didn't see anything that confirms this by the Jets.

Don't get me wrong, if its true then so be it. Just seemed like an odd article considering I can't find anybody else reporting this but him.

I don't see why we don't start Simms based on this preseason. He's got a cannon for an arm, great accuracy, great accuracy throwing on the run and he's tough. Been knocked around a bunch and still going strong.
