Someone needs to ask the obvious question, how is this team Worse, than last year 6-10. The D is improved over last year, why do youeven bring Revis into it, he did not play last year. Holmes,Hill,Keller, missed thirtygames. Sparano, not an OC, 'nuff said.
11. In real life. 3/4, to start(if rexkotites sanchez clobbering doesnt force Geno under center) The middle stretch is tough, but they should het couple, and bythen the backend will be soft, as the offense will be digested.
There is no way the offense is worse than last year. Sparano was terrible. The O-line was pretty shitty and Sanchez was a walking turnover. The defense took a knock losing Revis and the linebackers are a little shaky, but Revis really wasn't around last year and the LB's last year were old a slow as heck. I think this team can be competitive and get hot down the stretch. It's going to take a few weeks for us to gel, but I fully expect a win against Tampa and I think New England will be a lot closer than people think. Very excited to watch an offense that can move the ball this year. Ivory, Powell, Goodsen, Kerley, Hill, Winslow, Cumberland and who knows maybe Geno, Spadola and other WRs make a Big name for themselves and become fantasy owner favorites. Who was Arian Foster his rookie season? Who was Doug Martin? Players make names for themselves every year. We don't know what we have yet and we won't for a few weeks into the season. 3-13 Jets season...That's a headline. Headlines sell. Reporters today are salesmen. I'm not saying 10, but I think we will be much more competitive than 3. :breakdance:
Worse on Offense? You are kidding right? Morningwood >>>>>>>>>>Sparano by orders of Magnitude. Last year preseason, offense, 32nd. This year, top 10, close to 5, and every QBhas looked good minus Geno Having a bad outing against the Vagiants. You are looking at a top15 offense or better and a top 5 defense. Someone PLEASE explain to me, how thats a losing season?
Dline- A+ Linebackers- C Secondary- B DC/HC- A+ If we get pressure on the quarterbacks this defense is going to be just fine. and it may take a few weeks, but a Rex Ryan defense is going to be stout.
Peter King is an overrated sports writer writing for an overrated rag that has to give away gifts to get you to subscribe.
I'm not interested an a grade that is an assumption. I want to know how the defense is better? Start with the secondary having 3 new bodies. How are they an improvement over last years secondary?
Peter King was at Jets camp early on and said the Jets were better then he thought and would surprise people What happened to change his mind?
I love to see these assholes embarrass themselves. Let's see what they have to say when the Jets have won more than 3 games by the midway point.
miliner will take his rookie lumps, he'll probably be worse than wilson was last year ... wilson moves to his slot role, where hes more comfortable, which is an upgrade over trufant last year ... walls has had an outstanding preseaon and is looking to push trufant out of the dime role, upgrade ... at safety, i dont think theres a big drop off b/w the landry bros (especially considering that dawan is more familiar with the d than his bro was when he got here) and it looks like there will be a downgrade from the other safety spot, although bell had no wheels also, the improved play from the d-line will make the secondary better as for the linebackers, coples, davis, harris, pace/barnes is a lot better than the bunch we threw out there last year ... brian thomas was coming off of an achillies injury and bart scott couldnt run AT ALL i think the defense improved
Downgrade from the loss of Landry. With the Dline improved that might not be as glaring where we can put more pressure on the Qb. Revis, is a null point he wasn't on the football field all of last season. Due to cap ramifications and unrealistic contract demand ($16mil) we rightfully parted ways. Cromartie and Wilson are seasoned players. They can get the job done. Milliner, may take some time to develop, but he is going to be a player in this defense. The big change in our defense is moving from a focus of blanketing receivers to hitting the quarterback. If we can get pressure we will create turnovers. There is no doubt this is a rebuilding year. However, this team will still be way more competitive than 3 wins. 26 turnovers from our starting QB last season. I expect that to be better. Ted, how's that nightclub in your stadium?
The defense is better because there is a lot of young talent on that side of the ball. Oh by the way those young players are being coaches up by one of the best (if not the best) defensive minds in the league. The defensive line is much more improved, we have speed at the linebacker position, and we have one of the best secondary depth out there. We lost Revis last year and still had a top 2 pass defense in the league. Kyle Wilsom was replaced with Dee Miliner, so that's an immediate improvement in itself. Our safeties are the only true question mark but they have been consistent in preseason so there is no reason to think thy wont get better an better as the season goes along. Rex Ryan ALWAYS has a top tier defense. That's a good enough stat in itself for me.
This thread alone shows how much influence these "experts" have on people. People really need to take time to think for theirselves. It's pathetic at this point, I can't wait to throw out a ton of "I told you so's". I think we AT LEAST manage 7-8 wins. There is absolutely nothing that should make people feel like we will be lucky to win 3 games this year. That is fucking dumb.
I say 6-8 wins when you have a a defense that's consistently in the top 10. Your team will not be 3 wins bad.
I remember watching a video from NFL.com about potential breakout stars or surprise players. One of the guys actually said the Jets D-Line but prefaced it with "A lot of people may disagree with me here, but..." The only reason anyone would flat out disagree is if they have the mentality that the Jets are bad and there's nothing good about them. This seems to be the herd mentality, or he wouldn't have said that.
