this is the truth. what i dont get is how rex doesnt see geno's performance and say "looks like i was right" and not send mark out there at all. its baffling. you cant put a starter out there with guys who are doing anything they can, safe or not, to make a big play and get a job. just asinine.
No IMHO it was RR ego working overtime. Bring in MS win the game & at least have the bragging rights over the NYGs because once the season begins it will be all downhill so try to grab a headline where ever U can
right how dumb to execute the game plan by playing Smith and Sanchez and try to win the damn game...which the NYJ did. BTW - Mark has now stated that he knew he was going in and had no problem w/it (i.e. the opposite of what cimini reported) He actually made some nice plays as well. So lets see the Jets are 2-1. Sanchez will be fine. The NYJ are much improved over last pre-season w/roster improvements in numerous places, Holmes is getting ready to play wk 1 and the defense just got done shutting down eli & the giants.... meanwhile the absurd ny media just keeps trying to trash our team.
Well said, unfortunately many NYJ fans are buying into the Rex conspiracy, not to mention into the idiotic media screaming for Rex's head because of the poor way he handled Sanchez. Whattttt? Was he not just last week crucified because he was protecting Sanchez? Is anyone in his right mind still think that there is anything at all behind this media BS? We should be screaming for the head of morons like Metha, Cimini, Schein and others that spew venom about the Jets no matter what the move is while they are kissing other teams asses aka Praising the Steelers for their professional organization, one that protected a sex predator like their QB, but requesting the head of Rex because he got hot under the collar with those imbeciles. I'm so over the shit media in NY. If the organization removes Rex over this BS it will be a clear indication that the ownership has nothing but political interests and trying to suck up to the media...not improve our football team.
Don't worry. Woody hates the media as much as you do (though he loves the headlines more). So Rex is safe for now until the losses and stench piles so high that WJ ends up pulling out the scapegoat card. But, unfortunately, he is just as clueless as you. The problem with the Jets is not media sportswriters. The problem is fish rots from the head down. It starts with Woody himself and ends with Rex.
I have to ask: so what if the Jets won? It was just a pre-season game; a victory in a pre-season game is not worth risking your (sigh) starting quarterback in the fourth quarter. So what if the Jets are 2-1? The 2008 Lions went 4-0 in the pre-season, so it doesn't mean very much. And who cares if Sanchez made some nice plays against scrubs who won't even make the Giants roster? A fifth-overall pick lighting it up against scrubs proves absolutely nothing.
Hope U took my advice to buy gold as it up $25.00 per oz since I posted this. Hope U made some money
Personally I think its best for Rex and the Jets to part ways after this season barring a winning season or a season where its beyond obvious rex is getting the most outta these guys. Do I think rex is bad coach or deserved to be fired? No I don't. I think rex is an average coach but players like to play for him and play hard for him. I've compared him to a much better version of mike singletary during his tenure with the 49ers. Difference is rex was a great defensive coordinator before becoming a coach, singletary was just a linebackers coach and it showed during his tenure. However my gripe with rex is that it feels like he hasn't learned from his past mistakes and developed as a coach. Granted this isn't as a good a team as he had in 09/10 but he seems overwhelmed at times and his lack of offensive knowledge and control over the offense shows at times. I'm not asking him to be a mike martz on offense but to be more aware of what's going on on that side of the ball. I think rex has the potential to be a very good coach, I just don't see it happening in this situation though. He needs a fresh start and time to reflect on what he did right and what he did wrong. Also it's going to be a conflict of interest with idziks philosophy and his. Like I said, barring a successful 2013 season, I think its in the best interest of both rex and the jets to part ways. Idzik gets to bring his ideal guy in and rex gets the chance at a fresh start coaching elsewhere and I do feel another team would hire him.
I've been saying this...it was reported that both were going to play...for the whole week...I can't keep saying this enough.
I've been buying gold for years. Not sure what it has to do with football, though. Signed, Chief of the Internet Police
The media could help, things like this can bring a team together. Those players love Rex and they see him battling the media, this can be a good thing for the team.
It worked pretty well early on after Rex was hired. Not so much when they started losing. I actually liked the negative media coverage in 09 and 10 for that exact reason.
Clueless? Best playoff record of any Jets coach and second best winning percentage for multiple years of any jets coach. Yeh, the only stench that will pile up will be the one of stupidity, by selecting a looser that pleases the shit media. You have as much propensity for lack of facts as the very best of all, Metha.
All Rex has to do to keep his job is for the team to be competitive....put the best players on the field and have them play hard for you...which Rex has been credited for by the players themselves. Once Rex loses hold of his players, then the ship starts to keel top one side - which pretty much starts the mutiny and gang plank. I doubt very much is this will happen - but if Rex gets the thumb screws from the mgt and media to play Smith, then his goose is cooked for sure as Gino, the boy wonder, will surely put the Jets in a nose dive from experiencing his growing pains.
Rex looks like he has lost all fire. The press conference after the Giants game was embarrassing; he doesn't even have the sarcasm to mock the press anymore. it is very sad.
A large part of that is a lack of an extension up until now. He's reacting like anyone would not knowing if he'll have a job at some point in the near future. He's trying to show he can be a company man when his success has come from being a maverick. Ryan probably could take a page or two from the Parcells school of job negotiation should it come to that. Rex needs to have the same authority and cache that he had when Tannenbaum was here. Rex needs to do the "shopping" personnel wise and Idzik will not give that much authority to Ryan. At least not yet.
Rex needs to just relax and say "screw the media". Give them 1 word answers or 'no comment'. He has no need to justify his actions to the parasitic media. You can tell he's frustrated with them. I mean they ask the same stupid questions over and over again. If I were him I'd be giving them absolutely nothing because they deserve it.
