Junc, you gotta pick up the slack, you've been loafing lately, I've been carrying this thread...how else could I steal Pat Ryan from you....
You did just fine Matt, esp. the "Namath" pix on Saturday. MARTY DOMRES Well, if nobody's gonna do the 'dirty work': ERIC AINGE SANTONIO HOLMES
5AM? it's one of my summer rituals when I get to the office, I turn on my computer, check my e-mails then find photos for this thread and you ruined it!
You are very welcome amigo. ; ) ^^^^ In that Namath Super Bowl photo you posted, note that Namath's middle and ring fingers are taped together. You may already know this but that "tape job" was courtesy of Oakland DL Ike Lassiter who purposely broke/dislocated Namath's ring finger (and who promptly laughed "haha!" at Namath) in the Jets' AFL Championship Game win over the Raiders. Lassiter was also the one who in a previous game broke Namath's jaw. Cheap shot artist Ben Davidson (R.I.H.) who had knocked Namath's helmet off had gotten credit but the cheap shot artist on that one was the other POS Lassiter. #10 BO DEREK
Joe: I love the pic but it does need to be deleted. http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=78359
Ben Davidson was one of the dirtiest players ever, you remember the pre season game vs the Lions when Numoff broke joe's wrist
Glad you like it Matt--I'd drink her bath water but reading the post that junc (the prude) posted , I don't want to put any TGG Google ads in jeopardy so I deleted it. You may want to consider doing the same (pretty please?). Thx.
Speaking of John Hall, if you look at my link in my sig about my blood turning green, there is a write up about the week 17 game from 2002. John Hall misses that kick, I might not be sitting here today on TGG. That was my first game of the NYJ I watched. I was instantly hooked. That game was crazy from what I remember.
John had his ups and downs, but I liked him, I have about 10 pictures of him with my kids from Hofstra...did you write the article?
No, I wish I did. I do enjoy journalism, but certainly don't have a career in it. I did do a few write ups about the upcoming season last night though, and will do a bit more soon. (See signature) With that link, it's just the furthest back memory I have of the Jets. I was a bandwagon Bronco fan at age 9, but I watched that game rooting for the Jets specifically because of my Raider hate. I didn't know it then, but it grew into something much bigger. I was 13 during that game, and something just clicked in my head where I was like..this is my team. I've for better or worse stuck with the gang ever since. Curtis Martin was somebody I idolized, and once I had knowledge of Pennington, I just thought he was somebody I loved to look up to, and it just sky rocketed during that division championship season. I remember we started the year with Vinny, doing poorly. I didn't care how the Broncos were doing, or my home team Packers either. All I cared about was the Jets were losing, and I couldn't stand it. Then the magical run came, and it got more, and more exciting. We beat the Colts 41-0 in the playoffs, something I would appreciate much more now at 25. The next week eventuallly came though, Oakland yet again.:raiders:
Today, Jon Gruden is my favorite commentator, and I respect him among the greats of the NFL world, but back then I couldn't stand him. I thought he was a whining baby, and I thought Herm Edwards was just the best...obviously I had some learning to do.
LOL...Gruden is a cuckoo....hey ref do you know what a clip is? yes...then why the fuck don't you call one!
He might be, but at least he knows what he's talking about up in the booth. He provides real insight that some of the non sports people doing games can't. Speaking of actual insight, the Ross Tucker Football Podcast is a great one if you, or anyone else is looking for a show about actual football, not ESPN headlines.
Really good guy and he was good for us overall. he had some ups and downs but he hit most of the big kicks. The kicks he struggled w/ were the 30-39 range and usually kicks that could have sealed games. For example if we were up 6 and a kick would make it a 2 score game he'd miss it but if we were down 2 at the buzzer he'd make it.
