He's not healthy right now and the Jets don't want to be on the hook for the salary. Maybe he'll be back week 1. Holmes is practicing so its no surprise he got cut. Spadola deserves to make the team.
The WR's are in flux right now. One thing to remember about this process is that John Idzik was a WR and he coached WR's. He has a better grasp of what works and what doesn't at the position than a typical GM. I think Ben Obamanu probably has a better than even chance to make the final squad because he plays ST's and because Idzik already saw something in Obamanu once that got him signed by the Jets.
Da'Rick Rogers got cut by the Bills. haven't heard his name much since April, but I remember wishing the Jets would sign him. I wonder if he might do better on a second chance.
Not a shock. I love Bray but I'm not upset by it. They're not cutting the same guy that was Dougie'ing in McCourty's face or doing backflips after the playoff win. As much as we like to romanticize him coming back to the Jets, he's clearly not going to be that guy anymore.
Saw this coming. I think he's done here. They could bring him back after there's no guaranteed salary, but if they were going to do that then why cut him this week? Would be better to let him get work Thursday, cut him then, and then he's only missing a week or so of practice. Sucks to see him go but Spadola deserves a roster spot.
High time they cut this mental case McKnight. They should've cut him 3 years ago and kept Danny Woodhead, as everybody not named Wrecks Ryan plainly saw. Now McKnight can go throw up for some other team. Maybe Belichick is stupid enough to pick him up.
Hmmm. Mixed feelings. I always thought he was better with Sanchez than without and he made Mark better as well. Wondering why Massaquoi was brought in with Edwards. Something must be up ause I don't think Massaquoi was better.
Braylon was a lot better than people are saying he was. He made some good catches all throughout preseason. I mean what more do you want? He's a reliable possession receiver and a safety blanket for any of the QB's.
Yea - his current skill level put him on the fringe and the fact that he doesn't play special teams put him no the wrong side of that fringe. It's not 2010 anymore.
my sense is that idzik has his eyes on 2014, 2015 to be a contender. this year is not a throw-away, per se, but they're not going to keep braylon over a guy who might contribute to a contender. and braylon is probably looked-at as a this-year-only option. so, if there's a spot open due to injury or something, i'm sure the jets - like legler says - would be happy to have braylon back. but at the moment, i suspect, they have five or six guys they see as more-likely contributors in 2014-onward who they want to try. i also think this means holmes is about good-to-go.
Very sad to see this news. I wanted Braylon to start and thought he could have had a great year. I guess his leg injury and lazy attitude toward practice took him out PF the running. I guess Idzik doesn't mess around.
