Braylon Edwards released. Man, Idzik really doesn't like Sanchez. Haha.

    Twitter: Jets cut Braylon Edwards

    Per everyone on Twitter.

I bet he'll be back after week 1. Also, I bet Spadola makes the roster now.

Makes sense. Spadola has been impressive.

My eyes must deceive me, because when I watch games, Jets WR's look bad, besides Spadola and Braylon.

Not a ST contributor, long in the tooth. Still, I kind of have mixed feelings about this one but it's probably for the best.

Him being hurt didn't help his case either. I think he'll be back at some point this season.

I think two things are at play here. First, Spadola has been a pleasant surprise and the coaches have taken notice. Secondly, I get the feeling the Jets think Holmes has a real shot of being healthy by week 1 or 2. There are only so many roster spots that can go to receivers. Kerley is guaranteed a spot. And there is no way they are giving up on Hill this early (besides, he as shown improvement anyway). And they just signed MM . . . etc, etc.

They were never going to have him on the opening day roster, since that guarantees his salary for the season (and he's too much of an injury risk for that). I will be shocked if he isn't back shortly afterwards.

I think he is injured, which is why they brought in Masaquoi last week. Assuming you're going to keep 5 WRs:

Holmes, Kerley, Hill, Gates are likely staying. So for the fifth spot you'd have

    Edwards (whose injured)
    Spadola
    Masaquoi
    Obomanu
    Rogers, Zach

I think the younger guys come with a lower cap number, so that might have played a part too.

your eyes do deceive you. I mentioned it in another thread, Braylon looked to be the slowest man on the field in the VERY limited action he saw. HOw you could watch the games and think he looked good is mind-boggling.

I bet they resign B-Eazy in week 2 so that his contract is not guaranteed.

I like Spadola but Obomanu looked pretty good too. Barely noticed any of the others to be perfectly honest.

Yeah. There had to be a reason he showed up in the 3rd and 4th quarters. If he can't make this roster, he is probably done period.

youth movement in full effect, he maybe better than a couple of wr's that are kept now. but with no upside and no special teams contribution he just doesn't fit the team anymore.
good for idzic to realize that and not stick with the fan favorite just for the popularity vote
