its not unheard of. coaches have had contentious press conferences after pre season, regular season and post season games. in this case there are a few reporters who think its their job to be rude, interrupting and obnoxious. I actually think Rex was pretty restrained. Parcells would have destroyed that moron verbally. People seem to conveniently have forgotten the Tuna pressers....
Players in all three areas will fight thru a brick wall if Rex asked them to. This is the most important thing any HC must have the respect and soul of his players.
so everyone wants mark gone- fans, media, etc... and we know he isn't the future here barring him taking off this year and having an incredible year yet people want rex fired immediately for putting Mark in and mark getting hurt?
Geno's performance showed that he's not ready to start in the NFL, so that left Sanchez as the starter by default. Which is awful, but it is what it is. So why put him in the Fourth Quarter behind a scrub o-line? There was absolutely nothing to prove: if he plays badly (and he was coming in cold off the bench, not even expecting to play, so that was possible) it just brings back a QB controversy that had just been settled. And if he plays well...then so what? Sanchez lighting it up against people who will be bagging groceries this time next month proves nothing. And there's the risk of Sanchez getting injured, which happened. It was a no-gain, high risk situation. It was an utterly bone-headed decision by Rex.
I didn't like the decision BUT this has Idzik written all over it #1, if it was up to rex mark would have been named starter already for clearly having outplayed Geno. #2, everyone hates Mark and know he's not the future so why is everyone up in arms about him getting hurt?
Yeah, it was a poor decision to put him in at that point..... I'm guessing it was his way of putting the "QB competition" to rest once and for all after Geno's game....... turned out to be a bad idea. As far as the press conference goes....... that wasn't handled well, but if you really listen to the stupid reporters hammering the SAME question repeatedly like a broken record, I'd get pissed too. Parcells just would've told him to shutup then ignored him.....
My humble suggestion is you past by my posts since U are aware of the tenor of them. Yes I was happy about that Pats win but I was sure we would be done in the next week which we were which which negated all the good of the Pats W. U should have listen to Mike & Mike this AM & U would have learned about small pix vs big pix thinking since U never experienced winning it ALL like I did you grovel for any good thing U can find to rationalize your fandom of the NYJs which totally clouds your thinking towards the NYJs JMHO so U go your way & I will go mine when it comes to the NYJs. If you wish to continue this please U PM
If people weren't up in arms about Sanchez getting hurt, your take would be to rip Jets fans for being classless. "There are things bigger than football and for Jets fans to not be upset about a guy getting hurt who's done a lot for this franchise, is classless. Sometimes I hate our fanbase. Rex made a dumb decision, but for fans not to be upset? you guys deserve Kotite" - Junc
what does one have to do with the other? I know folks like you were happy mark got hurt and we do have a % of lowlife fans like all teams do, that has to do with this I have no idea. You think people are up in arms b/c he got hurt or b/c they realize he's our best chance to win right now? if geno played well and won the job this wouldn't be discussed today.
People are upset because he's our best chance to win right now, which is a pretty pathetic state of affairs in Jet Land.
of course, they saw how poorly Geno looked and now realize mark may not be as bad as they thought. Hopefully Mark is healthy to start the year but he wasn't in the long term plans when Idzik took over so he wasn't mortgaging the future of the franchise even as bad as the decision was.
Make no mistake, IMO Mark is still as bad as I thought. But I've been saying all along MS has been doing just enough to keep ahead of the rookie... and then there was that telling "incumbant" remark of Ryan's several weeks ago. So, I've said all along, they really have no choice but to start MS as long as he doesn't screw up really badly (which he hasn't) and as long as Geno doesn't really stand out (which he also hasn't). So the choice is clear to me... MS starts, barring this injury preventing same. I still like GMac an awful lot.
Which is why Ryan's decision to put him in the 4th quarter behind a porous O-line makes entirely no sense.
this is the truth. what i dont get is how rex doesnt see geno's performance and say "looks like i was right" and not send mark out there at all. its baffling. you cant put a starter out there with guys who are doing anything they can, safe or not, to make a big play and get a job. just asinine. ignore this: the quotes that go with it are below. my bad.
