Reading the previous posts, I'm not buying kaepernick, and Russell Wilson as for sure qb's at the moment. Obviously I wanna see Kaepernick play well but he's only played 10 games and defenses got an entire offseason to gameplan for him and Russell Wilson and rg3 is injury prone until proven otherwise.

Eli has 2 SB's and 2 SB MVP's. Don't ever compare Sanchez to Eli. Sanchez couldn't shine Eli's shoes. What a clown.

Rex did good by playing Mark against the 3rd stringers. Heck if you can't look good against them, who can you look good against? It was probably a confidence booster for him.

I just hope that before Rex is fired he gives us a Dennis Green or Jim Mora quality rant.

That press conference last night was a good beginning.

Watch Russell Wilson play this year. He's going to light the league up again. The guy plays with the demeanor and poise of someone whose been a multi time pro bowler in this league. I have zero apprehension about Wilson being a top 10 QB this year. He's that good.

I just think it's funny that people want Rex fired for playing Sanchez last night when most of those same people were saying Sanchez should never take another NFL snap. It tickles me pink (I'm black).

It's true Kaepernick has played only 10 games, but he combined both statistical excellence with passing the eye test: forget the scrambles and read-option runs...his ball placement on his passes was fantastic and obviously he has a huge arm. He also was strong at making pre-snap adjustments, which is very surprising for his first 10 starts.

Statistically, he was only behind Peyton Manning in QBR, he led the NFL in average yards per attempt and he had a passer rating above 120 on throws beyond 20 yards.

Who knows how his career is going to unfold, but everything suggests that he's an elite talent. He, Wilson, Luck and RG III are the best "quarterback generation" since Marino, Kelly and Elway, IMO. They're all top-flight talents.

It's not funny or contradictory. You can both think that Sanchez is terrible (which he is) and that Ryan made a stupid decision to put his projected opening day starter back into a meaningless game (because he did).

Just because Sanchez is a bad player doesn't mean it's irrelevant whether he gets hurt or not. The alternatives are even worse.

Being saying this for ages. Under thrown , over thrown , low and high all leave the receiver vulnerable to some ugly hits and your point using Cotchery is a prime example. I can remember some nasty ones on Keller too, then his production dropped off the planet.....wonder why.

Hitting the receiver in stride or in the numbers is an every day job for an NFL QB and Sanchez doesn't do that.

ESPN is now asking the question should Rex be fired after the meltdown in his post game interview.

Rex has become a joke and no longer has control of the team or himself.

Dude I am 47 years old and have seen a lot of QBs in my time. Kaepernick may be the best young QB I have ever seen. He was reading defenses better after his 4th start than our QB does after 4 years of starts. He also has a great arm and accuracy. Makes solid decisions for a rookie. Oh and he is one of the best runners in the game.

Anyone who understands football understands Rex should have been fired two seasons ago when he showed he was not capable of developing into a HC. It’s a disgrace the Jets have retained him so long. He is no better than Kotite? If Rex would have had to coach the talent from the the Kotite years we would have been the first team to go 0-16.

He is still a DC. There is nothing about this guy that says “good HC’. Nothing!

Well I mean you can't really argue with that because no successful head coach has ever had testy and agitated press conferences with beat writers before. Fact.

Trotting out the field goal unit on 3rd down and missing a field goal. Then, on the next series of downs, bringing the field goal unit back out again on what, the second down and missing again, although it was blown dead as the Giants called time. Those two series right there is reason to fire him.

"We wanted to win the game". If that is true, then let Simms try to make some plays. Not take him out with more downs to play. I thought it would be a great time to see what the kid has got. He was playing well enough to let him a few chances at the end zone. Also, it appeared that Coughlin wanted to win the game too, and I did not see Eli trotting onto the field with a few minutes to go.
