Just tell them that they chose the right team right after that team won the Super Bowl and ask them about one of their backup players and enjoy the clueless look. I do that about 5 times a week to Cowboys fans and it never gets old.
Tell those Giants fans that the Giants are nothing without Eli and once he's gone, they'll be a mediocre team again. A lot of Giants fans hate the Jets a lot more than they love their own team.
I would say many teams may be in this predicament. Take BRADY from the Pats, or better yet, Green Bay annually ranks near the bottom in defense but they have Rodgers. A great Franchise QB can make up for many team short comings, and as a Jet fan, I'm hoping that someday, we may have that Franchise QB to fall back on!
I just finally got this thread. Since it is the third predictions thread of this preseason, it's got to be called Strange Grades 3. Otherwise known as sg3
RMG, if you have been following my posts, I am right there with you. Others that I would also be interested in getting would be AJ McCARRON from Alabama (even though some call him a system QB, which may be true but he wins) and I also like Murray from Georgia. That dude has a cannon attached to his right shoulder. But really, As long as REX and Sanchez are gone, I will be happy!
This is gonna end badly re Rex and the Jets...cannot see enough offensive talent to get us more than 3-4 wins...defense will keep us in games but we will gas them as offense wont stay on field long enough... 2009 seems such a long time ago.....
I'm adjusting downwards right now with a caveat...the downgrade isn't because of the QB situation, that's the same in my eyes as it was 2 weeks ago. The downgrade is in part because I'm wondering if this years team will be a top 10 defense, not that there's not the talent, but rather because it's now pretty much a young Defense. One of our starting Corners figures to be a rookie, one of our starting safeties figures to be a first year starter and probably 2nd year player. One of our ILB's is slowing down the other is a second year player. Our OLB's was going to be a ? and a 2nd year player now it's a ? and a ?. The D-line is the highly regarded and full of potential but it's filled with 1st, 2nd and 3rd year players. But the real big reason for the downgrade is I haven't seen anything in terms of a running game against first squad defenses. the running game has been pathetic against the other teams #1's. Neither QB currently is good enough to overcome an anemic run game. If the running game doesn't shape up this could be a 2 win team, if the running game comes in to form I'll stick with 5-6 wins.
Running game was a joke last year with a horrible OL and they won 6. The big question is QB situation. The right QB can move the offense, use play action, outlets, get everyone involved, the running game will open up. Plus running games are built around 20-30 carries game - no team is really giving starters that amount of carries in pre season.
Smith made Rookie mistakes,, he threw some nice passes and had numerous dropped balls,, hes got a better arm than Sanchez and can run better than Sanchez...I say give him a shot...The Jets have to get a running game going, Ivory isn't looking so good,,That direct snap to Powell works well.
