I mean come on. The red faced banshee. One of the luckiest coaches I've ever seen

What the hell was that? Going for the tie in pre season by kicking that FG (and by the way one of his players got injured in OT because of it.

Then they were at our 40 in OT with a 4th and 4...no he PUNTS IT to keep playing the field position game. JUST GO FOR IT AT THAT POINT.

    Trying to ice kickers TWICE?

We all know the Mara's are pompous assholes who hate the Jets. I bet they got into Coughlins ear before the game and ordered him to coach this like a super bowl. Did you see in the background how Coughlin literally ran 5 yards onto the field and motioned NO GOOD with his arms when Folk missed it?

I've seen teams take knees with the ball when down by less than a field goal in pre season.

I have to agree. Coughlin was a jerk tonight and not the first time.

thanks to an otherworldly amount of luck.

I'm not saying he's a bad coach. But he's an enormous prick.

"You play to win the game!"

I honestly don't care, maybe he wanted more tape on his backups? Maybe he hates the Jets, maybe he's very competitive, maybe he's a prick.

Maybe its all of those combined? Who cares...

The other stuff I could care less about (field position) but icing the kicker seems tacky to me.

He's like 70 years old, he'll be senile and need help changing his diapers soon. Let him enjoy it while he still can. Hope he had a ball.

Besides the fact that it was a terrible game to watch, I understand why he did it. He treated it like a real game so the backups would play like it's a real game. If he treats like a joke, the players could follow.

The man is competitive as they come. Maybe he believes in momentum heading into the season while his backups gain confidence? He's always coached to not lose the game. He's always coached to win the game. He's beat Belly and the Patriots during two seperate super bowls. I myself personally can't stand Giants football, and everyone called out Tom as being a hard nosed coach and "too strict" during his first couple of seasons in New York. He built a winning culture.

I can't blame a head coach for kicking a FG to tie the game in order to force a turnover and/or a head coach who punts to keep the game alive. Maybe he wanted to see more out of his backups? Who knows but, the man wants to win preseason, regular season, playoffs, super bowls. He coaches to win. He practices how he coaches on Sundays.

I agree and I don't get the Coughlin hate here. Freezes the kicker? Boo hoo, make the kick and get out of there. An NFL-level kicker doesn't choke on a 39 yarder in perfect conditions, that's Doug Brien crap.

Actually, I thought Coughlin freezing Folk was good practice for Folk in a game-winning spot. Turns out that both Folk and Cundiff spit the bit but luckily for Cundiff Coughlin had called a TO to freeze him just before he missed his attempt.

Blowing those kicks (one miss that counted, one that didn't) were more cause for concern imho. While the Giants can go to hell as fare as I'm concerned, Tom Coughlin's a good coach and a decent man. Again, I don't get the hate here.

It's as if people don't think of the other side...

The Giants winning 2 or the Patsies having 5...That's a no brainer...

Some people would honestly rather the Pats have five...the fan rivalry between the Jets and the Giants is that stupid in recent years.

Truth be told I wouldn't have minded the Pats winning a couple years ago so much, I was tired of the Giants by then too. But I LOVED the fact the Giants spoiled the 'undefeated season', I didn't really want the Belichick Pats to have the greatest team ever in the SpyGate season.
