I'm listening to the Rex presser, he won't answer a question, dodges it with a no filler answer. The press jumps on him trying to get answer and he keeps on dodging. Isn't this what we all wanted him to do, not take the bait? Maybe it gets worse but not as bad as I expected from the way twitter put it.

Yes the consistency is not there. Also Rex never really took responsibility for the offense for most of his tenure here. He always seems to let the OC do his thing without demanding accountability from them. He can take the blame all he wants but that doesnt improve the offense. And what is sad is MM's play calling is the best under Rex as far as the offense goes. I know it only preseason but it's shows a lot of promise. I really hope Sanchez is not severely hurt because he is the only one who can save Rex's job. Ironic that it comes from an offensive player with Rex being a defensive guy. I'm tired of it as well.

You are as dumb as Rex and Buttle. We won the game!!!!! Sanchez looked good!!! How old are you? Go to bed kid. That was the single dumbest decision by a professional coach in the history of Pro Football and Woody should fire him tonight and make anyone the head coach because the season is over. we are a joke and the coach is a clown. Mike Francesca was right and that hurts to say. I am done with this team.

Interesting take which I think might have nailed why Rex played Sanchez:

    Chris Herring ‏@HerringWSJ 11m
My point: In a QB competition, both QBs are gonna play behind a 2nd-string line at some point. And if they put Sanchez back out there...

    Chris Herring ‏@HerringWSJ 10m
... It's because they didn't feel like he'd clearly "won" the job. And they wanted him to make the statement he still hadn't made.

    Chris Herring ‏@HerringWSJ 10m
Is that dumb? Sure; you can argue it was. But it wasnt Brady or Manning going down. They were in trouble either way, most likely.

    Chris Herring ‏@HerringWSJ 8m
If you wanna be upset w Rex's decision-making, be upset w the fact that he felt the need for Sanchez to go out & prove he deserved the job.

    Chris Herring ‏@HerringWSJ 7m
It was a questionable move. But to me, just seemed like Rex wanted someone to "win" the job rather than simply pick the lesser of two evils.

Considering they had been talking all week long about both guys getting time today...I can get on board with this thinking.

The whole wanting someone to win it, that sounds like Rex to me. He wanted Sanchez or Geno to grab the job, and neither one could.

Yeah a PRESEASON game...where they might have lost their most experienced QB for a long time because of Rex's idiocy.

none of the points hold weight. The fact is it was a bone headed move that might have cost Rex the last respect hes had in the locker room or in the office.

You preach fair competition and you set your boy out their to prove what exactly against the 2s and 3s. Like I said, if Sanchez scored there, so what. If he flopped there, so what.

He had zero business being in that situation. So with that I think im done. The NY media and NFLN will do the rest for me.

LOL. Everyone's a little chaffed right now and you can understand it. Whether you think Sanchez should be starting or not, that was not the time or place to be throwing Sanchez into the game. Just a sloppy, fairly reckless decision that bit Rex square in the ass.

He better hope it's nothing serious. I myself don't like this nagging feeling I have that's telling me that Mark's suffered something bad.

Never thought a preseason game would reestablish the Jets circus nationally.....

Rex is a fucking idiot. I was there tonight and was shocked to see Mark go out there. And to those Jets "fans" cheering with the VaGiants fans when he was down, you are a disgrace.

What if Sanchez wasn't going to be the starter for the Jets unless he outright won the competition? Not won it by default because Geno wasn't ready but needed to outright win it to play?

I don't see any problem with putting him in the game in the 4th quarter and giving him another chance to show that his QB skills are clearly better than anybody else on the Jets at this point. He hasn't managed to do that in two previous pre-season games and he didn't get the start tonight because of that fact. Giving him another opportunity to show his stuff wasn't a bad idea.

If Sanchez was the starter going into tonight's game then he should have started the game. Obviously he wasn't the starter going into tonight's game and so Rex gave him another opportunity to show that he should be the starter.

If Sanchez is hurt it will suck mainly because it sucks when anybody gets hurt. If he's not playing QB for the Jets this season as a result of the injury, well that's what happens in football.

I've lived through really impactful QB injuries on the Jets over and over again. Sanchez getting hurt is about a 1 on a scale of 100 to 1 in terms of likely impact on the Jets season and chances moving forward.

I was there and I didn't hear a single Giant fan cheering Sanchez getting hurt.

After calming down some and not getting caught up in the hysteria, I don't have as much as a problem with what Rex did than I initially had. If you are approaching it as that Rex wanted someone to shine to win the competition, putting Sanchez in makes sense. Overall, I think the QB comp. was handled poorly and this can be one part of it. But if they were following the idea that someone has to "win" the job, something I disagree with in hindsight because of the injury, I see where's he coming from and they took a consistent approach with it

I get it that you are a moron who wants to fire the HC and that you will no longer be a fan of the NYJ. But the objective is still to win the football game. The Jets won the game. If it is a revelation to you that in tackle football the QB might get hit - then you need to re-assess how much you think you know about football,
