In an honest critique. so far what we're seeing is a QB in Geno who does very well on passes under 20 yards but his over 20 yard passes haven't been particularly good. Which is the reverse of Sanchez who throws a fairly nice deep ball, but his throws under 20 yards suck.
I will say this about the offense. Regardless of the QB, at least we have an OC that knows wtf he's doing. This is the best I've seen an offense look (before the throw) in quite some time. Effective use of screens, players in motion, etc. MM will be the best OC we've had in quite some time.
Mehta tweets this @MMehtaNYDN Barring a second-quarter miracle, this Jets QB competition is over. Geno Smith simply isn't ready yet #nyj Cimini tweets this a little later Rich Cimini @RichCimini 2m At least Geno doesn't throw interceptions on screen passes. #Jets hahaha I'm starting to really like Cimini. Felt like this was another intentional jab at Mehta
Positives thus far.....D looks great except for the one run. Wilkerson could be one of the best defenders in the game. O Line is miles better than last year. They've shown that all Preseason.
Just because I dont kill Sanchez for breathing like everyone else does not mean im a fanboy. Take that bullshit and damage control to the main forums when you ready...
Right now Genos production in only a half has equaled Sanchez's total production all game in half his starts last year. In 7 of 15 starts with Sanchez last year the jets generated 10 points or less. Putting it in perspective 7 points in a half for Sanchez is close to a career game.
Geno and Sanchez look equal. This would be an ideal scenario if Sanchez was a top 10 QB, but he isn't Sanchez looks bad and Geno looks similarly bad
Geno looking shaky...that said the WR arent helping him out at all. 3 flat out drops. That wouldve led to at least 2 more first downs. 1 int that the WR shouldnt have let get away. (Still a bad throw)
its pretty sad that sanchez is so awful that people on here are almost desperate to convince themselves geno is the answer
It's a bad team, if there's any chance Geno can be part of the future I'd rather not have his confidence be shot with this brutal opening schedule before he's ready. Let Sanchez start the season and then die, and have Geno come in and ride the white horse after 5-6 games. He'll have plenty of time to show what he can do.
