Good signing. I remember this guy being a sleeper and paying off quite a few times in fantasy last year. Wasn't he on a crappy team last year? This move can't hurt us at all. I've always though he had a good amount of upside. Guess we'll see.
Ive heard on this board that Spadola was a LOCK-----a lock? Ive heard Gates is the new Santonio and also wayyy better than everyone else----really? Ive seen the man love for Bray Bray if you will----he looked to me on Saturday to be the slowest man on the filed. ( counting lineman) Most on this board have gone from thinking we have the worst WRs in teh league to some of the best overnight. Braylon Edwards may very well be done in the NFL. Gates was TERRIBLE last year. Santonio cant run but then he can but oh wait, maybe he cant. Hill drops every thrid ball that comes his way. We can use all teh help we can get
I think that Spadola is a lock because we have a very passing oriented OC, a GM that came from a team that webt after any and every potentially good receiver they could, and a roster very spotty receiver corps. But I don't disagree with much of anything you said, jonny. I just think that the Jets will be using an obscene number of roster spots for WR.
The more the better right? That way maybe one of these guys can emerge as a diamond in the rough. Our Victor Cruz or Wes Welker if you will.
You are seriously overstating almost everything in this post. From your assessment of the players to your assessment of other posters.
What the signing tells me is that the Jets WR's are in total flux right now. If the theme of last year's camp for WR's was injuries the theme of this year's camp has been drops. There have been a bunch of them. Nothing that happens in the final cuts is going to surprise me outside of Kerley and Spadola, both of whom seem to have locked up a spot at this point.
you still don't think Hill is a lock? he hasn't been that bad with drops to the point where its realistic they'll cut him, he's in no matter what. Holmes is also likely in, though has big chance of being on the 6 week PUP. Gates has earned a spot if only because he seems like he could be a good replacement for McKnight at the return spot. Zach Rogers seems destined for the practice squad to me and the remaining veterans are the most subject to getting cut outright.
I'm not a believer in Hill because I'm always weary of guys that have a knack for dropping the ball. (Is it me or do those guys never actually seem to improve?) Having said that, I'd be shocked if the Jets cut him.
Good point. I forgot he used to be a big drop guy. (Although, remember that drop in Canada against the Bills? - lol) edit: Also, he had a huge drop for the Seahawks after he was with us with the game on the line.
Come on, slim. I loved making fun of a couple of his drops with the Jets, but the guy ended up being clutch during 2009 and 2010. Throwing a couple of examples out there, one not even with this team, isn't convincing.
