Didn't a coach before (I think it was Mike McCarthy) say that Sanchez has what it takes to be a starting QB in the NFL? If so then I could see them sign him for cheap and sit behind Rodgers.
I never make things about myself, YOU guys do that. 1) I have to waste time b/c average fans pollute the board and band together to make themselves think they are right. 2) it's ok for you to bash me but if I return fire you whine. That's not my problem. 3) again, I need to do this b/c of the average fans that think they are right based on stats/rankings w/o context. you are free to never discuss things with me, I don't force myself upon anyone. If you dislike me that much don't engage in discussions with me and problem solved. If you like debate, if you want to learn then I will always be here.
I have no idea, I hope not Oakland. I haven't really examined the other rosters but he will definitely get a shot again. You are comparing 2010 Indy to 2010 NYJ, we were discussing 2005 Indy compared to 2010 NYJ.
Gottcha. Like I said, I was late to the party and didn't have the time to backtrack. Really I don't even understand why these comparisons are being made. You can call Peyton a choker all you want but you also have to call him a champion. The best chance Sanchez has at that will be probably be in a backup role.
Haha, you just can't help yourself. It's not really about disliking you, Junc . . The items on my list are just observations on methods that you resort to, which in my opinion, serve no useful purpose in any of these debates. In all actuality and sincerity, I believe they only serve to further diminish whatever credence your arguments may actually hold. Most of it is clearly employed to satisfy your ego. Again, I am aware of no one else on this message board who consistently engages in any of that stuff.
I am not comparing them as QBs, Mark will never be Peyton manning OBVIOUSLY. The point is people were minimizing what he did and I simply brought up a similar situation where an all time great failed so maybe we should appreciate Mark a little more? Is he great? of course not, was he great? No but he had a ton of great MOMENTS for us and helped us win a lot of games so I appreciate that. I am glad you liked that but I learn every day too and I value acquiring new knowledge. It may not seem like it in the "heat of battle" but I do. Thank you for the last line, I like to be unique rather than just a run of the mill poster(not meant as a dig at anyone but I do like to consider myself different than the average fan).
Well that is to bad cause as NY Junc said about the NYJs in total but he was so wrong since the only GOOD TIMES was the 68 season, the 68 POs & the 69 SB & if you want to stretch it the 1st game ever between the NYGs & NYJs & the 69 season until they lost the PO game to KC. After that just plain garbage which extends to now. The difference in the late 60s was the partner who ran the team owned a record company & knew what it meant to be top dog in NY. He signed JWN without consulting the other partners which is why he thrown out of the partnership by dear old Leon Hess. He believed in getting quality players & putting a quality team on the field. Woody is concerned with headlines (see RR) not winning anything nor putting a quality team on the field. The reason the NYJs have won nothing in the last 44 years is Poor Ownership, Poor Management, Poor Players, Poor coaching add all those things up & you get a big fat zero
Oh man, this gem is one I haven't heard before. Just making sure I read that correctly -- so, you're saying that strong Defense (in this specific case, the Jets 2010 Defense) is altered and/or offset by playing an Away game?
I think the biggest problem with this is that, in such a passing-oriented league, teams can no longer simply rely on the occasional "great moment" from their starting quarterback to get by. This is a league where the truly proficient quarterbacks are completing in excess of 65% of their passes and making big plays down the field, repeatedly. These guys are consistent. If this franchise wants to be competitive going forward, we need our guy to be consistent. We need more production and consistency out of our quarterback. And we need it now.
Greta point and my point all along. The haters refuse to give him credit for anything. Think he sucks now or should never play for the Jets again fine but lets not forget what he gave us one great 11-5 season and two great playoff runs. I still think what could have been if he had competent coaching and front office.
You should scroll through old photo albums if you want to reminisce. Sanchez hasn't been good in a while, and he probably won't be good ever again.
1) Writing that Mark Sanchez "gave us" an 11-5 season and two great playoff runs is remarkably unfair to the rest of the players on those Jets teams. (Especially when you consider that the passing game was unquestionably the biggest weakness of both of those teams) 2) He does suck now.
read slower. venue AND difference in talent. Us on the road vs. Indy at home and the talent around Sanchez in 2010 compared to having 2 HOF WRs around peyton in 2005. you don't think that makes up the gap for the defenses? Not to mention the QBs themselves- HOF Peyton vs. crappy Sanchez, right? since Mark entered the league: Jets are #2 in AFC in playoff wins, #3 in NFL that means more than any individual #s so clearly even in this passing era he and the Jets must have done something right. 1) the passing game was the biggest reason we won 11 games in 2010. We had 4-5 late game comebacks through the air when either the ground game wasn't working or the D failed. 2) he sucked LAST year w/ talent any QB would suck with.
^^^ junc, THIS is how you often come across to others here, and why I not so facetiously at the time previously tabbed you "The Self-Annointed One" junc, you're one lucky s.o.b. to have imho the F. Lee Bailey of TGG in your corner. 1. Gates was WIDE OPEN and in Sanchez' line of sight; even high-level H.S. QBs can make that throw, let alone a former Southern Cal starting QB turned NFL starter. 2. "Risky" pass? Gates was WIDE OPEN and in Sanchez' line of sight. Throwing into a crowd is a risky pass. Throwing to an abandoned receiver off of blown coverage--and for 6 points--is anything but risky, it's recommended. Further, there was nobody behind Gates so even if Sanchez screwed up a 15 yard pass with an overthrow there was no one behind Gates that could've picked it off. 3. With all due respect azhar, that's is not so. The left foot plant-pivot-throw drill (while moving left) is a staple in many teaching quarters (camps, teaching manuals). BOTH FEET PLANTED is not a set-in-stone fundamental requirement when moving to your non-throwning shoulder side. The "hip pivot" that's required in the previously mentioned drill above is also incorporated in the QB passing drill involving throwing while on your knees. 4. no comment *smile* ^ That in nutshell--you said it better than me.
That's ok, I don't mind how people perceive me. I don't mean to be a jerk about it but why is it ok for folks to bash me and not ok for me to say nice things? If people don't like me or what I have to say that's ok, they don't have to read my posts or respond. It would be their loss.
