which is incredible as he has the most playoff wins in team history for a QB. the man helped us get closer to a SB than we have been since 1968 and he will be remember negatively by whiny fans.

people can bash him all they want but don't forget the good times, they don't come around often w/ this franchise.

Being that we'd be going into Namath's 5th year (Sanchez' current stage in his carreer), no junc, we'd wouldn't have been bashing him ........ we'd have all been at the Super Bowl parade.

So why using this 'time frame' (going into Joe's 5th year, so as to draw a parallel betwen 2 playoff win Namath & 4 playoff wins Sanchez), why would you feel compelled to be saying "give Namath him a chance?"

Btw, I'm not going to argue any "Namath" with you. Not after I quoted four, count 'em FOUR HOF coach's glowing assessments of Namath (Vince Lombardi, Bill Walsh, Bear Bryant & John Madden to which you replied "who cares what Lombardi or Madden said!?" while having nothing more to add other than an irrelevant trite swipe about my misspelling Madden's name.

    Nice comeback-lol.

Well, that sealed the deal for me on the 'Namath' issue (ayfkm) and alerted me to an indicant of your (at times) M.O.

I'm not going to beat a dead horse except to say that while I enjoy your daily pictorial contributions in the "Countdown to NFL Kickoff" thread, let's have a gentleman's agreement that you will NOT set foot inside "Day #12." That day has only 60's QB's (Al Darrow, Hayseed Stephens & Namath). Let Matt Robinson have 1st dibs with it. You sir do not deserved passage beyond the Crimson Tide velvet rope. If breached, I get to go "full retard" on your poster boy come "Day #6" (my #15 contribution of today should serve as a venial hint). Deal?

I don't know how to link, but here is the video.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vOcZhoZoWOE

With time stopped and Jets at 34 yard line, and both teams had a timeout, the Jets RAN THE BALL, having settled for a field goal. A few yards are gained, and then Caldwell calls a timeout, which is so terrible, even Manning can't believe it.

Then, with our timeout, we went on to throw it.

So we both seem to slightly misremember, but the fact is, the Jets had settled for a 50 yard fg to win and were not going to attempt another play.

we couldn't win a SB the way he did, we wouldn't have the luxury of being in a division where the 2nd place team is a .500 team, where the 2 best AFL teams had to play a 1 game playoff for the right to come to NY for the title game even though we didn't earn homefield.

who cares what they say? he was physically gifted but his career was mediocre mostly b/c he couldn't stay healthy. If healthy I think he'd be a top 5 all time guy but he couldn't stay healthy and durability counts.

I'll leave #12 for you guys

b/c we ran it doesn't mean we were settling. We still had a TO and we burned 20+ secs after the Braylon catch, we had an eternity to play. The TO made it easier b/c we didn't have to burn one but had plenty of time regardless.

It would have been asinine to settle for a 50 yd FG w/ a shaky K. Thankfully Mark set him up for a chip shot.

This is slightly side tracked, but, if you run it, with one timeout (and don't call it right away and don't hurry up to the line) you have settled for FG. It was asinine, but not as much as Caldwell giving us another timeout and time to reconsider.

I'm not even bashing Sanchez for that, let's not put the whole game at his feet though, team win.

Indy called a TO right away.

Nowhere have I said mark willed us to win, I sad he made plays to win. he set up a chip shot FG for the win- it's one of the greatest drives in team history and we are trying to minimize it b/c mark's fantasy #s weren't pretty enough.

The only GOOD TIMES the NYJs had was SB 3 in Jan 1969. Before that the next best GOOD TIME they had is beating Oak in a PO game in Dec 1968 that propelled them to the SB. I guess the next best time they had was winning the AFLE in 1968 which propelled them to the that PO game in Shea stadium Dec 1968 which sent them on to SB3. Before that & since then the NYJs have zero GOOD TIMES since they have won nothing since Jan 1969 until now. Which of the game that I mentioned did U see live & in person?

It is this exactly that keeps me wondering if he can finally put it all together. His QB rating for post season play is #6 ALL TIME ... ahead of Brady, both Mannings, Aikman, Farve, Young and others. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/leaders/pass_rating_career_playoffs.htm

I am a realist though ... while i hold out hope, its very very hard to support him when he makes that dumb ass play almost every game.

This is why this thread is 750+ pages.

Sanchez CAN get it done....or could.

Of course, there's always the opinion around here that those kind of stats are meaningless numbers and not a reflection on his play.

It's all about context...average fans just don't understand that.

MS problem is what Tony Soprano would call a weak link cause as they say in the movie Goodfellas he would fold under pressure. During the 2 year PO run we had both a good running attack & a top of the line OL so he was able to guide the team without having to be under pressure nor make critical mistakes or decisions. The last 2 years the running game + the OL have both been a POS so he is under constant pressure & he cannot think under pressure & immediately makes a bad decision. Face that fact cause that really the problem with MS

Approaching 16,000 posts and 800 pages devoted to how much the hometeam Qb sucks. Incredible! Only in Jetland can such a thing be possible..

This thread would be about 13k posts and 620 pages shorter without the contributions of the people who felt obliged to defend Sanchez and refute his alleged suckiness ad nauseum.

Think how much really good conversation has been stifled by the needs of a few to blindly defend a sucky QB?

you mean w/o the people that actually understand this game. The few that don't juts look at blind #s and don't blame Mark for everything that goes wrong.

Anybody who doesn't understand at this point that Sanchez Sucks at playing QB in the NFL is in one of two potential conditions:

    1. They're in denial about his lack of consistency, mental aptitude for the job and subsequent hairy results.

    2. They're aware of the above but have decided to argue the point anyway for any of a number of bad reasons undetermined at this point.

    Sanchez Sucks.

I'm sorry, but you blindly post stats about Namath all the time with no consideration of multiple other factors that would constitute context. You use stats when they benefit your position and ignore them and accuse other fans of being ignorant when they don't support you. You can't have it both ways. You are losing credibility by the minute.
