If Luck or RG3 were in their 2nd year for the NY Jets much of the over 50 fan base would be in treatment for Priaprism having nothing to do with an overdose of Cialis.

Do you watch the games? RG3 has amazing accuracy. He completed 65% of his passes. Also he was a huge part of that great running game. He rushed for 815 yards and 7 touchdowns. His combined stats were 4015 yards, 27 tds to 7 turnovers.

Basically he put up a better turnover ratio and a better amout of total yards than Sanchez has in his whole career. Rg3 has proved he should be a starter in the NFL, something Sanchez hasnt done yet.

That's interesting b/c the following QBs had MORE talent around them and didn't win 4 playoff games in 2009 and 2010:

    Brady: ZERO
    Eli: didn't even make playoffs
    Flacco: 2
    Schaub: didn't even make playoffs
    Rivers: ZERO
    McNabb: ZERO
    Romo: 1
    Favre: 1
    Ryan: ZERO

but any QB could have done what mark did, he was dragged for the ride like so many in NFL history. After all we had the '85 Bears D, jim Brown at RB, Rice and Don Hutson at WR, the Hogs on the DL. We would have been a dynasty if not for mark Sanchez!:rofl2:

No, it's understanding the game. For you to post peyton's #s vs. mark's #s shows a lack of understanding of the game. Despite MORE talent, despite playing at HOME, despite being a much better QB and having much more experience peyton couldn't make plays to win, mark Sanchez did. Throw away the meaningless #s- they don't matter. Both QBs had chances to win that game, one made sure his team won while the other left the door open for the other team.

They weren't mediocre, it is what the average fan thinks b/c the average fan evaluates based strictly on fantasy #s.

I criticize him when he deserves it, I am not over the top about it so it may confuse some people.

I am ok being the ONLY one, I KNOW I am right. I understand the game better than 95% of the posters on this board. once again, at no point have I ever said he's great or would ever be great but it's hard to win in this league and we have a QB we KNOW we can win with b/c it has been proven but most fans want fantasy #s and playoff failures- until those types are QBing for us, if we had Rivers fans would bash him to death for always coming up small in big spots but from afar everyone loves him.

QBR like any stat tells us PART of the story, when are these #s being accumulated? There are so many QBs who are great in meaningless moments to make their #s look better than they are. That impresses the average fan that doesn't watch those players, it doesn't impress me.

    Where am I ignoring anything?

One argument is completely different than the other.

Joe led the Jets to the playoffs TWICE I his ENTIRE career, mark has led us twice in 4 years so far and the Namath debates were about him being overrated, some think he's an all time great even though the facts say otherwise. Have I ever argued mark is an all time great or even great at all? If I have you have a valid point but I haven't so this post is unfair towards me and it gives fodder to the average fans on here.

I have said a million times that injuries derailed his career BUT durability counts and Joe couldn't stay healthy.

Consistent winner? he made the playoffs just 2 times winning a weak division where the 2nd place team was a .500 team, he got the benefit of oak and KC tying and having to beat each other up in an extra game then had one home game w/ a chance to go to the SB.

His personnel stunk later in his career but through much of his career he had talent and the talent was there to win consistently(for real) from about '66/'67 through the early 70s.

I can guarantee you this, if Joe played today and had the exact same career this board would be bashing him to death(and I'd probably be backing him saying give him a chance).

Again When you have 1600 yard rusher everything changes. RGIII is also a running QB that again masks the need to read defenses third RGIII is a running QB and what happens to running QBS they get hurt. What is the use of all those great stats if you can't play during the playoffs.

I like RGIII but the statement he carried the team on his back is just not accurate. We will see how his career goes.

I actually think a 6-10 Geno year would serve Rex better than an 8-8 Sanchez year. But Rex is infantile and probably thinks exactly wht you say he does. I also cannot see Idzik letting his first year as a GM be basically trashed by a desperate coach.

Do you watch the games? They were going nowhere until RG3 got there. They were lacking a QB, oh just like we are. Maybe Geno can be our RG3. I have had enough of the Big Apple Turnover.

Just curious, what part of last year was an aberration?
the 18 Interceptions? He's had that or more in 3 out of 4 years.
the Fumbles? He's put the ball on the ground equal or more times in each of his 4 seasons.
Perhaps his completion percentage? He's never been to 57% and last year was about at his career average.
His YPA? Nope, about at the same level of every season.
His low TD output? It did drop, but only 4 off from being tied for the 2nd highest total of his career.
In short, last year was pretty much an average Sanchez year. 4 years in the league and aside for 2 years that had one category as a statistical outlier he's been this same QB all through his career.

Just brutal, Pick 6 to the DL. Dropped Pick 6 to a LB, fumble. and 1 TD...

yep, pretty much Sanchez's career in a nutshell.

People have to understand that Rex has to make Geno earn the job so it reflects well on the team and throughout the league.

Sanchez is a sitting duck but Rex cant approach it like that or the rest of the team wont back Geno as much as they should because they would feel he was "given" the job. If he earns it he will gain the respect of his peers and they will bleed for him.

Rex knows D and confidence. He know every opposing D that we will face will have SKY HIGH confidence with Sanchez as the QB. Rex won't want to fire up anyone's team especially on D BUT he has to to remove Sanchez by Geno beating him for the job.

Geno will start and Sanchez will be in the CFL or a 3rd stringer this time next year.

and he bounced back like he pretty much always does(w/ the exception of 2012).

  13. Am painfully sick of this discussion. That said..people don't wanna talk about anything else on the team so here we are beating the same dead horse.

I got crucified for suggesting that Jet fans want perfection from the QB position. Despite all the wacko Sanchez haters persecution...I still feel there is an aspect of that. No one has been able to combat the notion that when Sanchez is given a reasonable surrounding cast,he makes plays & puts up points.

Yes he turns the ball over way too much. Yes there isn't always a lot of style points. No accuracy is not a strength of his. He's in essence a flawed average QB.

W/ that said haven't the Jets still managed to win quite a few games w/ him behind center? Isn't the most important thing to put up points? Don't we have a defense capable of offsetting a lot of those turnovers?

W/ all those questions in mind...why is it necessary to proclaim that the sky is falling in Jetland based solely on Sanchez starting at QB? Whether you think he's good or not, when the surrounding cast has been up to par this team has gone deep in the playoffs. No stat, degrading comment or curse word can change that. He could be 32/32 starting QB wise in this league..but if the team is still winning...WHO THE HELL CARES?

Guess U missed the end of the 1st half of the Jags game

  15. I guess you're proving that you didn't read a word of my post based on the fact that the Jets still WON the game, hence furthering my entire point(Preseason to damned)

Great post, Many fans have a "Jersey is always greener on the other side" attitude. Yes Mark Sanchez has flaws as does every QB. Mark has a winning record despite being what many on the forum would have you believe as the "Worst QB in the history of the NFL". Hoping for anyone else behind center so long as it's not Sanchez is a silly attitude and is basically what this argument comes down to. There are plenty of QBs that would do much worse with what Sanchez had had to deal with throughout the last couple years.

Shotty, Sporano, WFH, S.Greene, Revolving WRs, Injuries, Poor protection, Bloodthirsty media.

Give the kid ( yes KID ) a break. If he suits up in Green and White I'll be cheering for him to take us to victories like he has shown he is capable of doing.

There are two huge fallacies here that you have been proliferating for months upon months.

First of all, it is entirely incorrect for you to keep referring to his individual statistics as "Fantasy #s". Long before stats like completion percentage, total yards, td/int ratios, yards/completion, and yards/attempt were used in fantasy leagues, they were first used by scouts, coaches, and GMs to assess individual performance and production. (Heck, even the original "quarterback rating" statistic was actually invented by the NFL, itself)

Every time you attempt to diminish the significance of Mark's meager individual production by deeming his statistics as "Fantasy #s", you only serve to further highlight your relative lack of knowledge of where these numbers come from, how they were historically used, and what they ultimately mean.

Secondly, and much more importantly, most Jet fans do not base their assessment of Mark Sanchez purely on his individual statistics. First and foremost, most Jet fans base their opinions of Mark Sanchez on watching him play. What you always fail to grasp is that Mark's substandard statistical production perfectly matches the impression most have of him when they watch him play: That he's anywhere from a mediocre to outright poor quarterback.

    More arrogant delusions of grandeur.

This is absolutely hilarious coming from you . . . because you are the only person on this board who consistently doesn't treat QBR (or any other relevant individual QB statistic) as part of the story! In fact, you have repeatedly labeled these individual statistics as being "meaningless" and have yearned for the day when most would agree to "throw" them away. By definition, when you render these universally accepted statistics as "meaningless" and refuse to acknowledge their relevance to the discussion at hand, it is YOU who is failing to treat them as part of the story. They are NO part of the story in your eyes . . . and that's just downright silly.

Here's a little secret- Scouts don't judge based on #s.

Average fans judge based on #s and most think he stinks b/c of it. he DID stink last year but overall he has been good w/ the exception of one horrendous year.

I am more concerned w/ when the #s are being accumulated, does this QB step up in bog spots or are they coming early in games or late down/up big? all #s look the same on a stat sheet but in reality not all TDs, INTs, etc... are created equal.

I have never dismissed #s as meaningless, I dismiss #s w/o context as meaningless. You guys post blind stats/rankings as if they tell us everything.

I am still waiting for you to post all these examples of teams carrying poor QBs to at least 2 postseason wins a year for 2 straight years.
