STEVE O'NEILL - Below: setting NFL record for longest punt; still standing almost 44 years later (Sept. 9, 1969) This game (at Denver) was noted for the Jets receiving 124 yards in penalties and on one play alone, had 3 personal foul/unsportsmanlike conduct penalties thrown against them - 45 yards in all! Jets, sick of the ref's "home cooking," protested the intitial 15-yard personal foul penalty to the point the refs threw back-to-back unsportsmanlike conduct flags at them for good measure. A total 'home' job (Broncos only penalized 30-something yards) in what turned out to be a 21-19 loss.
Saw that punt it traveled 77 yards in the air, from the back of the end zone, mile high air obviously helped, still pretty amazing
