then why don't they just say he's won Hobbes?

forgetting all the lapses in logic of propping up a fake competition from before, why not say that after a bad practice and inconsistent play in TC that smith is not ready and they're content with the incumbent? Just say Mark Sanchez is the starter.

who cares? theres no benefit to lying. 0. if it was a forgone conclusion and they were afraid of fan reaction well they'll get it in a week anyhow.

this is a real competition. It simply has to be, why else go through all these ups and downs for no real reward? bringing in MM to rehabilitate Sanchez among other reasons, thats sound enough. but if it was in their heart of hearts to stick to that plan they should have just done it.

nay, they WOULD have done it.

the lie is pointless, if you are to be believed the jets are simply being morons trying to attain a non-reward by limiting their starters opportunities to get better.

I don't get it, why go through all of this if it was decided last winter? whats to gain by saying theres a competition when theres isn't in an opportunity where even the supposedly duped among us would accept that they feel he has to be the winner?

Please do not turn this into a pissing match Hobbes, it was a simple question that I wanted to see what everyone thought. You can take your b.s. back to the sanchez thread.

    right... back on topic.

is G-Mac hurt too? because then the quandary becomes do they give Simms an entire half to himself. not that that this matters that much but say Simms gets hurt, they have to put somebody in, and they won't waste it on Kerely right?

either way it seems redundant to leave an entire half to him, so I'm comfortable with the least injured QB besides #5 and #6 getting a few reps at the end, wether thats smith or McElroy.

Smith should be given a chance to prove to the coaches that he can produce in a live setting, in a position of pressure, which is why he should get the start next week barring a sanchez performance for the ages.

let him loose when he's at his best, if he's out there tomorrow night limit him and focus on the running backs.

Shouldn't this have been announced at this point? We are like 9 hours from game time... I thought injury reports came out the day before...

No, the Sanchez battled it put story linem is what they are sticking with.

Unless they are going ro bench him no matter what(99-1 shot imho)

Then Sanchez, has a "brutal practice" and Geno plays the week 3 preseasontuneup. But I dontsee it happening.

If Geno had any shot to be the starter, he would have to have started tonight.

Tony, i have been following politics, as long as football, and media manipulation is usually transparent.

Today, youve now got Serby, hedging his bets in the Post.

"everyone knows Mark is Dead QB walking, but if he plays well, end the competition"

This conclusion was readily apparent, when they signed Garrard.

Put on the "competition" glasses with that lens.

If Sandwedge sucks it up tonight against the worst team in the nfl, and Geno doesn't play, adv. GENO

I wanted to see Geno start.

    You know who doesnt?

    The GM and HC.

Competition my ass. Just because I support Sanchez for all the stated reasons, why is it, you guys cant see that if this was an honest competition, he should be starting.

Hey, Maybe they will yank Nacho, after a series, and put Geno against a shit defense, to give him the start next week, and by extension, make Sanchez Genos back up.

But...if Smith isnt starting this week, and what I just said doesnt happen.

There never was a competition, and to me...thats a crappy thing to do to Geno.

    Sue me.

Rme. Week 3, is the regular season tuneup. Are you new to football?

Geno practiced all week, and they fucked him. Just like they did with the absurd playcalling last week.

How Ironic. Look at #34, that I was typing while you posted that.

douchebags. (and you have to wonder, if Genos no comment answer the other day, means they already told him)

I am not new to football thank you... This is not a usual circumstance that we are in and you can bet your bottom dollar that Geno will start against the Giants even if Sanchez plays lights out tonight... The Jets organization wants to see what this kid can really do and they will give him an opportunity because MM even said it himself he didn't really let Geno loose against the Lions.

    1. If it's based on the competition how is Sanchez leading? He threw a pick 6 and was just as inconsistent in practice...

    2. Management isn't doing a "crapy" thing to Geno by starting him... They would be boosting his confidence, his team mates confidence and decreasing their opponents confidence.

One thing that gets over looked on here is that the league and the team's confidence with Nacho behind center.

well, alright then. theres some consistency.

I think if sanchez does well enough they might leave it alone and start him outright. a few turnovers though, and its up to geno to put up or shut up next week.

theres an emphasis on not getting stupid turnovers this season, if one can control the ball more than the other then thats a huge deciding factor.
