Little bit of a scare here at Patrios practice as Tom Brady stayed down after incomplete pass in 11-on-11 drills. Was holding left knee

    Mike Reiss ‏@MikeReiss 2h
Tom Brady walked off under his own power with a slight limp, missed one play, then returned to practice.

    Mike Reiss ‏@MikeReiss 2h
There is a great crowd here at practice today (maybe 8,000 plus). Beautiful day. When Tom Brady returned to practice, a big cheer.

    Mike Reiss ‏@MikeReiss 2h
Tom Brady now leaves the field after consultation w/ head athletic trainer Jim Whalen, Bill Belichick and Josh McDaniels.

    Mike Reiss ‏@MikeReiss 2h
Tom Brady left field under his own power, but whatever he felt on that incomplete pass is enough that team wants to take caution.

I am amazed that the Pats let him back on the field after the initial tweak. It's probably a non-story but letting your rain maker test the fates by going back on the field before you'd completely checked him out is insane.

    I don't think so.

Without Brady, they are literally fucked. Their defense isn't like the last time Brady went down. On top of that, Brady's top receivers are all missing some chunk of the season - now Brady goes down? Pats are fucked if his injury is serious. You can count on me.

Injury is not serious... Just a sprain they are reporting... Day to day.. If the patriots are smart, they rest him the rest if the preseason so he is ready to go Week 1.

I don't root for injuries, I'd rather beat a team with their full compliment than root for an injury, though, I would be down for a season ending Brady injury if it leads to a drunken Giselle bitching at the groundskeeper on TMZ for making the grass too short.

The part of the Brady injury that worries me though, is if something did happen to him, and Tebow did come in to QB...jesus, I wouldn't be able to watch ESPN again until February. Could you imagine the wall to wall slob job they'd do if he led the fucking Pats to the playoffs? No NFL network either.

Shit, I'd literally rather Brady be healthy than that nonsense.

Not to mention there's the Tebow zealot factor, which would be yet another 'distraction' they don't need. At least with Brady on the field forever the zealots can stay in hibernation but if he's not out there, hoo boy...

As much as I detest Brady on the field, and always root against him, I couldn't be rooting for someone who seems like a good person to be seriously injured in real life. I want Brady to struggle naturally, with age.

It sounds like he "sprained" his knee, but this comes at an exceptionally bad time for the Patriots. He has pretty much all new receivers, except for Gronk who is going to either miss a whole bunch of playing time or will be rushed into playing before he is ready. (The kind of back surgery he had is normally done on people in their 50s and 60s. It's a pretty big deal- normally it takes like 6 months before you can start exercising much, so for him to be playing NFL football after just ~4 months sounds really risky regardless of how much of an athlete he is.)

I'm not an x's and o's expert, but from what I've read, the Patriots' offense relies very heavily on the receivers running their routes basically perfectly, and having excellent rapport with Brady. Since everyone is pretty much new, they are still in that phase where they're building trust and rapport with Brady, and if he misses a lot of practice / pre-season games that could delay that process, which could make the Patriots struggle early in their schedule. It sounds like the Jets' chances of winning that first meeting with the Patriots just got a bit better.

I know folks are joking a lot about what if Tim Tebow has to take over, but I don't really see that happening. I think this mild injury to Tom does cement Tebow's roster spot- which was not a given at all, since Belichick has recently been having just 2 QBs on the roster. Gabbert will be the second stringer, so there's not much chance of Tebow starting.

All this will mean is that now the NFL will go into "Super Protect Brady" mode...

I don't give a fuk... Mo, Coples Anyone.. Smash his fuckin face in (Legally of course) and watch the NFL flag it...
