P.S. you guys are all buying into the narrative. Its not that Sanchez has separated himself from Smith. More correctly, its Smith hasnt caught Sanchez.
Randy Lange @rlangejets 1h 11-on-11: Mark Sanchez hits WR Jeremy Kerley in stride as he catches the ball just in front of the goal line and struts in for a 50-yard TD.
You clowns better not turn this thread into another Sancho shit fest like you did yesterday. Hobbes - I'm looking at you too!
I just don't get why all of us aren't happy w/ the way Mark has responded. Unless he's lights out Geno is going to start at some point this year and if he is lights out we'll be winning a lot of games so it's a win win for all of us.
To defend Geno, he dropped to the 2nd round for a reason. He is not ready to start in the NFL. Good news is, he is big and strong with a rocket arm. He has shown some flashes in camp. Hopefully he can get comfortable with an NFL offense and be ready to roll when called upon. I just don't think that will be Week 1, as I have said from day 1.
there seems to be alot of long td's being scored in practice. i dont recall all these types of plays in years prior.
This upcoming week is huge. If both Geno and Sanchez look good against Jax, the coaching staff is gonna have their work cut out for them determining who's gonna start against the Giants. I'm rooting for Geno to play lights out if not then I've already accepted that Sanchez will be the starter.
Smith threw 4 INT's with the first team offense going against the scout team defense. "Smith didn't seem affected by his tender ankle. His worst moment came at the end of a two-minute drill, when he was intercepted in the red zone by Lockett. Unofficially, Smith was 10-for-21. " Sit down rookie.
That's why I find the "Sanchez always lights it up in TC" narrative baffling. For the past 4 years all I can ever remember consistently hearing coming out of TC was that "the defense won the day" and the next and the next and so and so on. This is the first time in the Rex era that I've heard the offense making so many plays against the defense. Not sure if this is more telling of our offense or defense this year. Either way this camp has definitely not been the same as past camps. That goes for Sanchez and everyone else on offense and defense.
Listen to the morningwood interview this week. He talks about wanting the big yardage scoring plays (40 - 60 yarders) and how they need to score more. The confidence this guy exudes is refreshing. I guess it's easy to be confident when you know what youre doing.
tie this in with the joe mcknight "i ain't getting into that" interview and i wonder if the players were told or decided on their own to stop giving the reporters anything. we haven't heard much from players and most quotes have been from rex and marty.
Yeah, it makes me nervous. Is it because MM allows far more long throws in practice against lesser dbs? Or is our secondary regressing? I wouldnt be surprised to hear it's been Wilson getting burned. Hope it's not Dee.
I would worry about our DL when the QBs aren't in red shirts and still hitting these bombs. A lot of TC is about technique and the playbook. Actually getting to the QB is secondary. Our offensive success could mean a number of things;* Our safeties are behind the curve in Rex's Def, More aggressive with Rex calling shots and Sanchez is able to recognize this after his 4th year, Our WRs are actually significantly better then everyone would have you believe, Our OC is competent at his job, Sanchez isn't broken, the system has been ( and is near fixing ). Hopefully it's all of the above. But i totally agree there are a lot more TDs this preseason then there were last.
I don't like that Rex and co are hesitating to name a starter on Saturday. IMO Rex should come out and say that Geno will be the starter because the plan was to alternate the first two starts. I don't like this but it is what it is.
