McElroy, could teach Sanchez at least one lesson on the importance of protecting the football. He probably also could teach him how to carry out a play action pass and throw a HB screen. Solid backup  (at least better than Brunell)
Brady has a mental aspect about himself that no one in the league can match except for Peyton Manning. He knows EXACTLY what's going on on every down. He doesn't have a rocket-arm, but I believe his arm is still much stronger than McElroy's. Accuracy and Power. Brady has much better anticipation - McElroy won't even come close.
I love the guy as a back-up -He'll be ready on moments notice, but again that's all he is. He's way better than Brunell, even though old man did light it up against Buffalo in 2009 :metal: throwing bombs to Braylon.
brady doesnt have an arm? the guy was throwing 80 yard bombs all day when he had moss. mcelroys arm is absolutely no comparison to bradys at all
Comparing Joe Montana and Tom Brady to GMac is patently absurd. So is making idiotic accusations that so and so "hates" so and so. Step up and earn the job or STFU.
well said! You are the voice of reason! Gmac's critics are really Sanchez hero worshipers! They are obligated to say wacky things about any possible competition to their QB hero.
wake up and smell the coffee. REX has hated the guy since he popped off to the press since his rookie season. its documented!
He got there in year 1 as a starter, right? Yeah. I knew. Somehow teams missed that super genius for six fucking rounds. P.S. Nobody is comparing GMac to Montana and Brady. Weak arm, lack of size, whatever - these are the very reasons some of the all time greats got dismissed as prospects as well. I am saying Jets shouldn't be making that very mistake, when they are short on talents.
Contrary to your belief, Brady doesn't have the arm that many scouts would covet. Ok. Let's make a few things clear. Throwing 50 yard bomb down the field is NOT an accurate assessment of how strong one's arm is. Hell, given time, Chad Pennington post 2nd shoulder surgery struck Coles down the field for 56 yard TD pass once. It's more or less because when QBs throw these bombs, they usually use the entire body, starting from the back pedal torque to stepping into the throw and whatnot. Then what are we talking about, when we say 'cannon of an arm' thing? Dan Marino gives you a very good clue - his arm strength was out of normal stratosphere. He was such a monster that, it required a fundamental adjustment in defensive approach. As Saban once said, "When Marino is throwing it, that [Break on the ball] shit just don't work." Before Marino, the DBs were told to break on the ball once they see the QB throwing. Of course, this means the INTERMEDIATE throws - and this is the majority of throws in any passing attack. It's a little bit different in WCO in that they emphasize the RAC a bit more, but still it occupies heavy share in WCO as well. [By intermediate throws, I mean passes between 10-20 yards. Used to be 8-15 in the past, but now it would be safe to take 10-20 approach these days.] And it was this area where Marino was so successful with his monster cannon; when the defense reacted to Marino firing a rocket 15 yards down the field, it was almost always way too late. Great many teams devised different methods to counter Marino's passing prowess - some with greater success than most. This is what a 'cannon' of an arm can do to the game. Does Brady have this? Oh hell no. If anything, if Pats are trailing by more than a TD in the 4th quarter, it is more than likely that they will lose. Brady doesn't have the cannon arm.
mcelroy doesnt just not have a cannon he floats 7 yard outs. the guy can barely toss the rock at an nfl level.
He made progress, but no respective QB is going to take 11 sacks. There is a reason as to why MM and David Lee have not let McElroy jump in there against the 1s - His limitations are far worse than any all-time great or "diamond in the rough". That said the Jets do need to do their work on McElroy just as they did with Geno Smith. McElroy at some point got a chance to prove himself and I guess he wasn't deemed worthy.
Where is this "hate" documented? BTW - GMac acted like a dumb assclown by trashing his teammates on the radio. A completely stupid move. especially coming from a 7th rd pick who contributed nothing and spent the season on IR. Maybe GMac shud worry less about talking about his teammates on the radio and more about improving his performance on the field. He blows every chance he gets to show how good he is.
... and pretty telling to see an interview with Eric Allen and MM, and not a word about Gmac. Only injury or Geno can save us from a long year.
True, and I agree to some extent. But I also give the kid fucking props for telling it like it is and putting his name on it. Something his head coach certainly isn't doing, if you look at his body language in press conferences the last couple of years.
