We got our pants pulled down on national television by the Pats last year. Turnovers all over the place, including the infamous buttfumble. No doubt one of the most embarrassing days we've ever had as a franchise. 10 days later we're playing AZ at home, and you would think there would be ONE thought in our QB's head --- DON'T TURN THE DAMN BALL OVER. On the first offensive play of the game he throws up a balloon under duress from our own 20 and Rhodes picks it off. You can't make it up. This is who he is.
Yeah, we've never seen that from him in the preseason before. Wait didn't he throw a pick 6 against the Ravens in 2009 and then lead the team to a TD later? Didn't he throw a pick that was returned to the 1 against the Giants in 2010 and then proceed to lead the team to a score on the next drive? Same old Sanchez!
yep and in that 2010 season he had a really good year helping us get to the championship game. Thanks for bringing up that good year as he hasn't been the same the last year or 2. hopefully we see 2010 Mark Sanchez. By the way, that INT against NYG was a tipped ball, very different play than the other night.
FWIW Junc, for all the chatter about the Fri night TD toss to Ziggy, Esiason basically reiterated the description of the play I gave, when I took my kid to football practice this AM. Bad decision, trying to make a play. Should have spiked it, to get the call. Crap block. (in a nutshell) Then again, what does he know...
He's been the same guy 3 out of 4 seasons. The only decent season was an average one in which he was carried by the team and had DBs dropping his horrible passes. He's thrown picks and bounced back in nearly every preseason in his career. Nothing has changed with him. You being encourage by what you saw Friday night which is what we have seen his whole career tells me all I need to know. Soak in all the pick 6s from Sanchez you can. His days are numbered. I await the usual average fan and doesn't know the game reply.
Can we get a grip. Hes been in essentially the same OFFENSE. Now he isnt. Tannenbaum, said....he gave him the extension, on the fact that he put up 32 scores in 2011. So, he fired Schotty, and extended Sanchez. (tom Moore says hello) We all know about 2012.
I'll take Mark 3 of his first 4, as long as we don't get 2012 Mark but it spears we have much more talent around him this year than last year so I doubt we see 2012 mark.
He's been in the same offense and has ranked worse than any other QB that played in the same offense. Tannenbaum also said he never would have signed him to the extension if he knew he would have 26 turnovers. He had 26 turnovers the year Tannenbaum signed him to the extension. How did extending Sanchez and firing Schotty work out for him? I don't think we are going to have the running game we did in 2009 or 2010 and 2011 Mark threw away our season the final 3 games. None of those Marks are good enough to get it done. We are going to have to see a Mark that no one has ever seen before if he wants to keep his job.
The INT was tough to watch, but Sanchez's "ho hum.. they made a great play.. what can you do.." smiling reaction made me want to punch his teeth in. Mark, How about possibly saying that turnovers, especially pick 6s are unacceptable in any scenario, and throwing a football with no receiver available to catch it is a bad decision? How about getting pissed for once? Other than that he played well, but I feel like we've been saying that his whole damn career - "other than that backbreaking play that gave the other team points, he played pretty well." I'm tired of that script. Stop turning the football over, period.
A great philosopher said it best, "no matter where you go... there you are." It took all of three plays for Sanchez to prove that no matter what system he plays in, he's prone to make stupid mistakes.
I'm a little worried about the talent staying healthy.. If guys like Hill, Gates, Winslow and Ivory stay healthy (along with the O-line), then we will be ok. All those guys we are depending on are injury risks though.. just for once, we need some luck in the health dept..
The top two posters in this thread are junc and hobbes, by a mile... nyjunc -- 1,336 Hobbes3259 -- 1,044 displacedfan -- 458 alleycat9 -- 454 Acad23 -- 440 I think these guys love the attention with their baiting and all.
Mark didn't throw away our season I 2011, the defense did. health will be critical, last year to start the year he weapons weren't bad but by the end of the year they were pathetic. We need to stay relatively healthy. who cares how many posts each person has? all it says is that we contribute and you don't. There are many more average fans than those who truly understand this game, I have spent the majority of this thread trying to help the average fans so I will have more posts.
