you don't watch a lot of Jet games, do you? It's not the # of hits(though I question 5th least hit) it's the types of hits. he has been crushed the last couple of years and always gets up.
This is just wrong. Sanchez has taken some absolutely brutal hits and always bounces back. No one other than you thinks Sanchez isn't willing to take hits.
i would like to see the source of those numbers. if they dont count the ones where sancho drops down to avoid getting crushed he probably doesnt take nearly as many hits as other guys. but sancho does avoid contact rather than standing tall quite a bit. when he does get hit though he gets hit hard sometimes. and he has always gotten back up.
A rare Junc post I can agree with. One thing I don't understand peoe questioning is his ability to take a hit - he may be shell shocked at this point but the guy has more than proven his ability to endure a beating.
He takes about 32 a year...roughly. We arent in Ken OBrien territory to be sure, but without adding in hits as well, ots a faier amount. I think in this offense, that should decrease dramatically.
That was Sanchez before the middle of 2011. Those days are long past. I mark the winge point for him sometime between the brutal Baltimore game early on and the Denver game near mid-season. He has not been the same QB since then and he absolutely does not stand in and take hits at this point. When Sanchez gets hit hard it's because he never saw the guy coming. He was a tough QB for his first 2+ years in the NFL but he now does everything he can to avoid contact including just giving the ball up when pressure comes from the interior.
^Exactly. There's a difference between being able to take a hit and being able to stand in the pocket and deliver an accurate pass knowing you are about to take a hit.
Any news on Winters? I'm still not sure why he didn't go to Detroit, and reports today he was driven off by trainer? We need Winters ready as a starter asap, to keep Peterman off the field.
Actually, if you looked into it...youd see Sanchez is at his worst with pressure from the right. Someone posted it(probably in this thread) .... and he seemed to get worse in 2011. Gee...what inference would one draw from that? Its still not an excuse for making bad decisions.
I dont think he has become less tough but I do think that as his protection has gotten worse that he has looked more frantic and hurried some passes. Not necessarily because he doesn't want to get hit but because he was tired of getting sacked and the Jets tried to preach throwing the ball away instead of giving up the big play for the D. The end of 2011 there were many times when I thought he was coming out of the game but stayed in. I remember seeing him running bent over clutching his shoulder a few times. Last year was just a hot mess and everyone looked confused. I dont think Sanchez just all of a sudden lost his toughness and became the Kerry Rhodes of QBs.
THIS, if you look at Geno in college he was able to stand tall in the pocket take hits, and deliver accurate passes. Probably one of his better abilities that often get over looked
Peterman is going to kill us this year. I don't care what the reports coming from camp are - he's not a good football player. He's going to be a holding penalty machine. Even Colon, who looked great Friday night, has a reputation as a holder. Put the two of them together and get used to a lot of plays called back this season...
The inference most reasonable people would draw from that is that he is the worst with pressure from his right. What other inference could there be?
I would much rather Brandon Moore back competing and mentoring than Peterman. He may know the schemes, but doesn't have a good history of pass protection and it shows..
