Why everyone assumes it's auto-loss to Pats? We were very competitive against them at least once/year. Even last horrible season if Hill catches that pass at the end Jets get 1st down and win in NE.

Brady lost most of his weapons while Jets D is arguably better than last season, especially rushing the QB. Our O can't be any worse. So Pats are at best the same, Jets are at worst a little better. Why are they suppose to blow jets out?

    Buccaneers: Win
    at New England: Loss
    Bills: Win
    at Tennessee: Win
    at Atlanta: Loss
    Steelers: Loss
    Patriots: Loss
    at Cincinnati: Win
    Saints: Loss

    BYE

    at Buffalo: Loss
    at Baltimore: Loss
    Dolphins: Win
    Raiders: Win
    at Carolina: Loss
    Browns: Win
    at Miami: Loss

This is all assuming Mark Sanchez is the starting QB for the entire season. With that said, 7-9, one game better than last year. Don't let the door hit you on the way out Rex and Mark.

they've gotten better defensively. their run game looks to be outstanding again, they still have tom brady. no, they wont be explosive, but they are still going to be a top 5-8 offense, and from the looks of it better defensively as well.

our run game looks to be worse, our line younger and more inexperience. we no longer have keller who has hurt the pats during the sanchez era. our run defense doesnt look great. maybe we keep one of the games close, i just see 2 blowouts.

i mean, we do nothing well, and to top it off we now have alot of new pieces and guys still learning the NFL game. i dont see how why dont get crushed by every good team on our schedule

think we struggle to win 4 games and im not predicting them ..

on paper we look a very poor team QBs and RBs leave a lot to be desired

I hope im wrong but I have no optimism for this season whatsoever

  5. Jets Esq.

    Jets Esq. Guest

Buccaneers: W. (1-0) The Bucs lack any real pass rushing ability, which significantly reduces the effectiveness of Revis, who is still not at top form after his ACL surgery.
@ New England: W. (2-0) Gronkowski is not playing, and Brady is still gelling with his receivers, and is pressured somewhat consistently by the D-line. The Jets win by a 46-yard field goal as the game clock expires.
Bills: W. (3-0) The Bills just aren't that good. I am at the game for my birthday and delude myself into thinking that my cheering played a tiny role in the Jets' victory.
@ Tennessee: L. (3-1) Getting cocky after a strong start to the season, the Jets drop this one against an inferior team.
@ Atlanta: L. (3-2) This is one of those games where the Jets have a low double digit chance of winning. They don't.
Steelers: W. (4-2) The Steelers' aging and lackluster offensive line has had an injury by now, and the seemingly indestructible Big Ben has been battered around just enough for the Jets to squeak by in this home game.
Patriots: L. (4-3) Gronkowski is back, and healthy, Amendola is on pace for a Pro Bowl year, and the Patriots just clobber the Jets. In the 4th quarter, the Patriots line up at the Jets' 1 yard line, and Belichick calls a time-out. The stadium, which is now at 2/3 capacity, immediately begins a sustained and deafening boo as Tebow steps onto the field in Brady's place - everyone knows what is about to happen. They line up in the wildcat formation and Tebow proceeds to rush one yard for a touchdown.
@ Cincinnati: L. (4-4) The Bengals are just too well-balanced and too good for the Jets to keep up with. They manage to score in the high 20s, which is just too much for the Jets' offense against such a good defense.
Saints: L. (4-5) The Jets aren't able to disrupt Drew Brees enough to be able to outscore the Saints. After dropping three in a row, a media figure quotes "a confidential Jets source" stating that Johnson is planning on firing Rex. Johnson releases a press statement saying that it is "now is not the time to make a decision about Rex's future with the Jets organization." A defiant Rex holds a press conference in which he vows a strong finish to the season and implausibly claims not to be worried about his future with the Jets because he is only focused on winning right now.
    BYE
@ Buffalo: L. (4-6) Although this is a game the Jets should win, the Jets manage to blow it. TV analysts begin openly speculating about whether the Jets will win any more games, who will replace Rex next year, and if the Jets will end up being in a position to draft Clowney.
@ Baltimore: W. (5-6) The Ravens have dropped off somewhat after their Super Bowl win last year, and their much-hyped offensive line is actually not particularly good. Mo Wilkerson is having a Pro Bowl year, and the offense does just enough to squeak by.
Dolphins: W. (6-6) Tannehill is experiencing a sophomore slump, and Rex's creative blitzes allow the Jets to carry the day.
Raiders: W. (7-6) Fresh off their third win of the season under Interim Head Coach Greg Olson, the 3-10 Raiders can't finish off the Jets, who are suddenly in the hut for a wildcard spot!
@ Carolina: W. (8-6) Although Cam Newton has been having a solid year, the Pathers' defense is still terrible, allowing the Jets to have a rare 30+ point game. A fired up Jets defense slows Cam down enough for the Jets to pull this one off. Geno Smith throws a career-high 4 touchdowns.
Browns: W. (9-6) The Browns are no good this year, and Brandon Weeden just didn't improve from last year, and it turns out that even though Colt McCoy has a stereotypical-sounding name for a quarterback, he's still awful. The Jets win decisively.
@ Miami: L. (9-7) The Jets aren't consistent enough to be able to beat the Dolphins twice in one season, even though the playoffs are on the line.

The day after the regular season ends, Rex Ryan signs an extension through the 2016 season. Mark Sanchez is traded to the Cardinals for a 4th round draft pick. Although Santonio Holmes played, he was relatively ineffective post-surgery and the Jets are unable to trade him, and end up releasing him to add to their cap space.
Pro Bowlers: Cromarte, Wilkerson, Coples (in a breakout year), Ferguson, and Mangold.

Reasonable predictions....I actually agree with most of them except I would swap Buffalo and Tenn. I can see the Jets losing to Buffalo after upsetting NE and they are a better team than Tennessee - I can't see them losing that one.

NE's improvements that you're citing are through draft. You're talking about our guys lacking experience. That's true, but why do you then assume that Pat's newcomers have no question marks?

It seems that it all comes down to "it's NE so they must've good" maybe it is, but I won't buy it until I see it. Call it a difference of opinions.

Man I still think most of u folks are a bit delusional with regard to our W-L record.

I'd give my left one for a meaningful 9-7/10-6 record but I just don't see it.

w/o a running game, I don't see more than 5 wins no matter who the QB is.

There are so many moving parts and unknows this year it seems like there's a pretty wide range of reasonable outcomes to me. I think the biggest wildcard is morningwood ... I wouldn't be shocked if he could squeeze a heck of a lot more out of this seemingly no talent offense than anyone is anticipating. And if that happens the jets couldatch up with anyone.

I could also see our seemingly talentless ofense produce like an offense devoid of playmakers with massive amounts of turnovers.

I wouldn't be shocked with a 4-12 record or a 12-4 record tbh. I'll go with right in the middle. 8-8.

I think the real issue is we have too many question marks in the skill positions so it's tough to see us doing much better than last year if at all.

Tampa - L: All the hoopla and hype about Revis coming to play the Jets amounts to nothing. Tampa's strength on offense will be Doug Martin but he will held in check as Josh Freeman hasn't really played to a consistent enough level to command respect. I see Martin having good enough of a day however and Freeman not making that crucial mistake and the Bucs squeeking a close W 23-17.

@ New England -L: The Pats have suffered some setbacks at the skill positions but they still have Brady and Bellicheat. While Brady has not had his best games against Ryan he still gives them an edge. Just like the week before I see Vereen being held in check but still having a good enough game to help the Pats get a W 27-17.

Buffalo - W: The Bills have made improvements but they still aren't better than the Jets and especially on the road. This will be one of the few bright spots for the offense this year in a 31-16 win.

@ Tennessee - L: All things being equal if this was a home game I would give the Jets a better chance to win this game but we haven't really improved and neither have the Titans but they have the best player on the field in Chris Johnson. They also should have Kenny Britt back although his health could be a question. It'll be close and ugly loss 23-20.

@ Atlanta L: This will be ugly... I think we'll keep it respectable in the 1st half and go in trailing by one score but the Falcons will make adjustments and have much better players than us. Falcons win 40-17.

Steelers W: I think the Steelers are taking giant steps back, the health of Big Ben is always a question mark. No real running game and losing Mike Wallace all hurt. They still have a decent defense but it's overrated. The Jets will play tough in this one and get a W 27-20.

New England W: The Pats have struggled as Gronk is not the same after the surgery, the loss of Hernandez and Welker are felt as Amendola is out for the season and none of the Pats young WR's have stepped up. The Jets take advantage and surprise the Pats 30-24.

@ Bengals L: Andy Dalton is having a pro bowl season and the Bengals feast on the Jets. After two straight wins the Jets come crashing back down to Earth, Sanchez has his worst game of the season at this point and they get crushed 30-10.

Saints- L: Another awful game by the Jets and another blowout. Brees picks on an inexperienced Milliner and garbage Kyle Wilson all day and it's out of hand by the 2nd quarter. The Jets head into the bye week licking their wounds and following a 33-16 loss to New Orleans rumors of Geno Smith starting at Buffalo begin to swirl in the media.

@ Buffalo- L: Two fairly even teams but only one rookie is starting this week and it's not Geno. The Bills use a balanced attack and EJ Manual at least for one day looks like a first round QB. Buffalo splits the season series with the Jets following a 24-21 win.

@ Baltimore - L: Most of the guys from Ryan's DC reign in Baltimore are gone but the Ravens are still the better team. Flacco plays well and Ray Rice scores 2 TD's in a 27-10 win by the Ravens.

Miami - L : The Phins have not met expectations but they are still better than the Jets. Dion Jordan has his breakout game and sacks Sanchez 2 times in what will be Mark's last game with the Jets. It ends on a bad note as the Phins roll over the Jets 30-7.

Oakland- W: The season is lost at this point and the Jets look at the future. Geno Smith comes out firing and the Jets begin to click on offense against a bad team. Smith leads the Jets to 4 scores on his first 6 possessions and the Jets defense beats up the Raiders piss poor offense. The Jets win this one easily 33-13.

@ Carolina - W: Back to reality but fortunately still better than the Panthers. Smith isn't as sharp now that there is tape on him and Carolina plays him well. Cam Newton throws a pick to Dee Milliner who returns it to the house and once again Bama trumps Auburn in a Jets 23-17 win. Smith struggles but he scrambles for a big gain on 3rd and 9 late in the 4th to secure a W.

Cleveland - W: The Jets have won 2 straight games and are feeling good. Cleveland is also playing pretty good but with the game being in NY the Jets are able to play to their best. Smith has a decent game and again has a big run for a 1st down late in the game. This one is close but a late FG secures it for the Jets 20-14.

@ Miami- L: The Phins need to win to make the playoffs and they have the players on defense to contain Smith and prevent him from making any plays. He throws 2 picks and fumbles once. Miami doesn't play exceptionally well but they do enough to win 20-10.

Collin Coward was saying that after the first preseason game he believes the Jets will go 2-14. What a loon.

Who is more of a loon?

Him for making loud and baseless predictions through his nose and getting paid well by ESPN?

Or you for actually listening to him????

I originally predicted 7-9 about a month ago...I'm going to drop that down to 6-10. Not for a Geno vs Sanchez reason, just generally thinking we'll be hard pressed to win more than 6 games.

I'll go with the same thing as Poeman's last post only with us also getting a win against either the Panthers or Browns towards the end of the season.

I was about to post my picks, but then realized that I was the first reply in the first place. Well now the season is legitimately here, and here we go on the official record.

    Vs The Bucs - L
    At The Patriots - L
    Vs The Bills - W
    At The Titans - W
    At The Falcons - L
    Vs The Steelers - L
    Vs The Patriots - L

    At The Ravens - W
    Vs The Dolphins - W

7-9 just like my signature link, thinking we're in for a rough start, but it will get better at the end.

PS, Poeman that avatar is the shit. I love it.
