Yes you do expect an NFL defensive end to be able to go up and get a ball. JJ Watt makes it look easy but almost all of them will tip, deflect or intercept a pass thrown right at them 9 feet off the ground.

Ansah is 6'5". His arms add another foot and a half to his reach. If you think he can't get 12 inches off the ground on a leap you're mistaken.

Sanchez has had this kind of play occur over and over again since the middle of 2011. He just makes bad decisions followed by bad throws and he has done this under three offensive coordinators in three different systems at this point.

It's just part of his skill set: throwing picks to defensive linemen.

Hey, od be thrilled if Edwards, made a grab like that.

Look at LTJFs screen shot. Thats a real good catch.

His feet are on the ground or within inches of it. Was it a good catch? Sure but you have to expect NFL players to be able to handle a ball thrown right at them.

Sanchez is a crappy QB. Period. He may get it together enough to fool everybody into thinking he's better than that for a short time but he's going to screw the Jets up royally after that.

You did watch Richard Todd right? The guy who made bad decisions and bad throws all over the place? The man who was rescued by Joe Walton and turned into a decent QB? The man who then threw 5 picks in a 14-0 loss in the AFC Championship Game because under heavy pressure that was the QB he was?

If Sanchez doesn't have double digit dropped interceptions in 2010 we're not even having this conversation. He never gets the extension and he was the first cut by John Idzik after he took the job.

Thanks for posting the screenshots LTJF.

I exaggerated saying Sanchez handed Ziggy the ball, but it wasn't an incredible play for Ziggy. He doesn't even reach the peak of his jumping ability and doesn't have to stretch his arms all out. That's a terrible read and throw by Sanchez that should have never happened. Even if the FB was open, it wasn't getting past Ziggy.

Hobbes I'm starting to think you are Sanchez or at least part of the Sanchez family. There is just no defending that play otherwise.

My point exactly. It was 1 game/3 drives THIS YEAR. if you don't think he played better, you just never will. Fine. Its a new year Act like it.

If they both play like they did last night, I'll take Sanchez 7 days a week.

Alex Smith was Sanchez first part of his career and now they're talking like he is fantastic.

And for those saying "he completed passes to wide open receivers" are ridiculous. 95% of all completions shown on sports center today were to open receivers. You bitch when he missed open receivers last year. You botch when he completes to them this year. OK, have him throw to only double covered guys...then you can bitch about his ints.

That Int. was not like a WR going up and catching a dart, the ball was floating in the air more NFL DE's will make that catch consistently than drop it.

    reisbe4, agreed %100

What most here have no clue about and are in such denial, they really believe G. smith is going to come in like one of God's angels and save the Jets from day 1. That is laughable.

Based on last nights performance, who came out ahead? From the day the Jest drafted Gino, it was a project in the making , and it was very obvious when he came in against the Lions 2nd teamers.

I'm certainly not going to make excuses for Sanchez making stupid decisions, but lets get real here.. if the Jets are in the business of putting the best product on the field that will give the team the best chance to win games, it certainly isn't Smith at the juncture, anyway.

Come out and save the Jets may be laughable.

But come out and play better than Sanchez, not so much, Sanchez is a known quantity at this point, a physically average QB with a well below average QB IQ and pocket presence.

With MM's offense we now have a sports car compared to the Dodge Dart we have had but we need someone capable to drive it.

Watching ESPN this morning and hearing them hoot about two D-linemen reading and reacting better than a QB says it all.

The only place that ball should have gone was OOB. He was throwing it to the Invisible Man. Sanchez is either blind or stupid.

So we scored only 17 points, Green Bay didn't score and Atlanta scored only 10 points, we scored a TD in the very last preseason game last year. Two new starters on the Oline penalties will work themselves out it's preseason. I didn't say a "good" looking offense, I said NFL offense compared to the crap we witnessed last year. But if feel like nitpicking away continue, some of you guys here think you possess a magic keyboard where everything you type is gospel and shit. If it is not slanted in your direction then it makes no fucking sense.

Geno may not be a positive, but he is not a known negative like Sanchez. Sanchez has contributed to a number of defeats for this team. If the coaches go with the known negative, then it is good bye for them come season's end.

Blowing the read on the FB is inexcusable. Ive said it ninety times since last night.

But you cant say Brick didnt blow the block, or that Ziggy dodnt make a heck of a play on that ball.

Theres no defense of Sanchez there. He threw a ball to a FB that wasnt there....

The play was to ground the ball behind Brick, to draw the holding call.and a 5 year fuy should have seen rhat.

No. OOB should have been the second choice.

The play was to ground the ball behind Brick, to get the holding call.

Ziggy was 9 feet away when that ball was tossed. It was a real good play.

If Richardson had made that play on Stafford, we would have a 10 page thread on it.

End of the day, dumbass tossed a pass to guy he didnt even look for.

And finished 10/13, 9.5 YPA, and a 99.8 passer rating.

Anyone on this board that tells you, they wouldnt take that from Sanchez, is a liar and a fool.

All 3 QBs, finished over 90, on a night when the run game was non existent.

Thats the real news. It appears the ghost of Schotty is gone.

    this is the preseason

sanchez has a lot of fucking baggage to get over this season. the fact that he came out, threw the same type of pick that has been killing him the past two seasons should have been enough to make him crumble, but he fought back harder than he has in years and looked like the sanchez we saw in the playoffs and loved.

i just dont understand how people arent happy with last night. after the pick he got his shit together and threw darts out there.

let him work it out through the preseason and we just might have a shot at a good season on offense.

And thats the crime. He never located the FB. For a five year guy, thats plain retarded.

If he had bothered to look for the FB he grounds it and gets the holding call.

At least ots not a knock off of a gay pop band.

And...fwiw...theres nothing in my description of the play thats inaccurate.

Moron throws ball to a guy he doesnt locate.

Brick clearly blows the block on a screen play.

Ziggy makes a nice catch, from 9 feet away.

FB was basically tackled, and should have drawn a holding flag.

    However...as far as the truth...

10/13,9.5 YPA,99.8, with the pick six.
