Betting on pre-season games is like betting on an individual quarter in the NBA. That being said I'll take us for 500!
@BrianCoz 1m Jets not traveling to Detroit: Dalton Freeman, Lex Hilliard, S. Holmes, Chris Ivory, Josh Mauga, J. McKnight, Titus Ryan and B. Winters
Hilliard isn't doing well and isn't a good fit for WCO FB. He's gone. Winters is a rookie guard and probably doesn't stand a chance of starting. They can only dress so many players.
Didn't Winters tweak something in the last practice? Maybe they are leaving him home to get treatment.
Don't knock it. A couple seasons ago, I made a killing on taking the Miami Heat in the 3rd quarter! There was a long run of games that they would win the 3rd quarter by a ton, and my book pretty much divided the spread over the 4 quarters evenly prior to tip off! Of course, being a Knicks fan, it killed me betting on the Heat, but as long as they weren't playing the Knicks, I was okay with it.
I thought with him being a 3rd round pick that he would probably start, but maybe I thought Peterman was worse than he really is. Regardless, thanks for the info. Haha, I hear ya. Basketball is a rough sport to bet on, because on any given day a Bobcats can beat a Bulls. The over/under lines are crazy too. They'll have a -110 at 190 for example, but then 196 will be like -330. It's only a few points. Anyway, I know it sucks, but betting on the Heat definitely does bucket you money..unless you take them by 2 and they win by 1...like that game against the Magic during the streak, still bitter about that.
I'm sure he's still considered competition. I'm also sure he is a better bet than that complete moron Ducasse.
Lions first team is going to dominate the Jets offense, the Jets O-line hasn't had enough time to jell and the Lions figure to have a ferocious pass rush...it's going to be hell for both Jets QB's as long as the lions #1's on the field defensively.
While I have to admit that Stephen Peterman, the Lion's cap cast off now playing OG for the Jets scares the shit out of me, quite possibly the same could be said about the Jets young first team defense again a Lions OL that includes Dominic Faiola (he of the 'weight gain'), Dylan Gandy and Corey Hilliard who aren't exactly world beaters. As for the Lion's first team defense, beyond their front four, the Lion's back 7 has a lot of question marks. That said, aside from the Jets draft picks, the Lions had NINE draft picks back in April, some of whom should warrant a look: Ezekiel Ansah, Darious Slay (Miss. St. who's imho a better DB prospect than the overrated Johnthan Banks-provided his knee holds up), Larry Walford (KY-the 3rd OG after Warmack/Cooper), Corey Fuller-WR Va. Tech., Theo Riddick-RB Notre Dame., Michael Williams-TE Alabama. Only the 1st game. I'm more concerned about coming out of this healthy so that the 'comp' for spots can continue.
Pre-season game doesn't matter much except to judge some talent. I'm not to worried about the Lions secondary (but I do like Slay ALOT), Main thing is we need to judge some young WR's and our QB's. Though it will show how the QB's do under pressure. I think the O-line will improve, but with 2-3 new players on the O-line it's going to take more than a couple practices to get that whole unit working as a cohesive team. Lions had a good draft IMHO, They got 3 players in Slay, Anziah and Warford I wanted for the jets, especially Warford.
