Why don't we just release him? This guy has missed too much time.. We can hold our own with Powell and Ivory.
He recieved a 1M signing Bonus so I think thats GNT money and the Jets would take the hit. I dont know what his legal issues would do the the recapture of that $ due to the CBA. I would bet thats why they havent cut him and probably wont
It doesn't take much to insert a RB into an offense. He doesn't need a full training camp to get out there and carry the rock. Look at the FA RB's available ... might as well stick with this guy. Probably just Idzik putting a lock down on the bullshit.
The "why" of your question probably lies with the real reason he isn't there. If the Jets think they are getting him for this season, then there isn't another player in FA that provides a better short and long term solution. And then there is that 1mil bonus already paid...
Many people, myself included, were ecstatic that we signed Ivory and Goodson in the offseason. Now we are ready to just dump him before he gets 1 snap because BP is having a good camp? McKnight is a one trick pony, and Ivory is fighting a bad hammy. unless you love the thought of our RB depth chart reading: 1 Powell 2 Spann 3 McKnight 4 Ivory (PUP) Lets just hold off on the release Goodson talk.
^ This ^ If he's got a good liar (er..., I mean... lawyer), he can probably beat some or and all of the criminal charges. What's left? He was a drunk-as-a-skunk passenger in somebody else's car who broke the law. So he's probably in rehab at the request of the Jets and his own attorney, who's telling him it'll really look good in front of a judge... that's IF he even has to appear. So everybody is cool. He gets out within the required time to say he's been through "the program," and within enough time to join the Jets before Game One. He swears it'll never happen again and he's learned his lesson and blah, blah, blah and everybody is down with that. So you keep him and let it play out.
I'm guessing Goodson is toast. What happening with griffin? I'm pretty sure i read last year he had real potential and the only reason the texans didn't keep him was because they already had Foster and Tate.
It happens to nearly every team. Look at what the Pats are going through with Hernandez and that CB (forget his name). The Broncos have a bunch of drunks in the front office, and the Eagles with Riley Cooper. This is just some of the stuff that has happened in the past 45 days.
