Well with nacho being named starter in preseason game one, it can only mean one thing. The Qb competition is still close, which furthers the argument in favor of starting Geno. If nacho, in his fifth season, struggles in camp to beat a rookie 2nd round pick, doesn't look good on sancho! Just saying.
my gut today tells me this group of douchenibblers is going to start sanchez against the bucs. first time i have felt this way all year and its just a gut feeling but i really see it happening. almost no matter what happens.
first born son in football terms? lol, that is a crock of shit. think about it a second. we are not a dynamic scoring offensive team that will bury opponents with high scores. Rex is trying to win by playing good defense, and win what will likely be low scoring tight games. Why then would he blindly stick with a guy with 26 turnovers a year? turnovers are the number one enemy, especially considering our lack of offensive prowess to overcome them. Also factor in that Rex is playing for his HC future. Starting Sanchez blindly due to some conceived 'loyalty' notion just doesn't add up. Rex, Morningwood, and Lee all want to be here next year. They will start the guy who has the best camp and preseason. If it is basically a tie, i expect they roll with the future in Geno day 1. If Sanchez has performed clearly better, i expect it will be him until Geno is ready or playoffs become out of reach. it won't be some conspiracy if Sanchez gets the nod. I'm just hoping it will be a decision of who looks better, rather than who looks less worse. So i'd like to see them both have a great camp, with Geno earning his right to start.
The football term first son or first born refers to their first drafted QB Everything else I'm not getting into I've been having thus discussion all day and it will continue tomorrow
so was Tanny's first born Mangini and Clemens? he didn't stick with either of them very long. Rex was onboard with the drafting of both Sanchez and Smith. He's seen what Sanchez brings to the table. He hasn't seen what Smith can bring. The starter will be determined by their performance this offseason. The way it should be for a change.
You don't get it Rex wants to go down swinging with Mark that's how he's built Did you see the video of Geno visiting the facility, Rex looked uninterested did you hear the press conference after he was drafted he said nothing And this is the guy making the call
you are stating Rex will start Sanchez no matter what, due to some paternal draft bond. lol, but I'm the one who doesn't get it? and btw, it's been confirmed that the starting QB will be chosen by committee (although i don't agree with that approach. it should be the HC's call). so it's not Rex solely making the call, which blows your theory right up.
When those Boos come more often than they should, and seemingly more often than the cheers... Its hard to keep cheering for the things you should be.
I always agreed with this. They will "ride and die" together and you can tell that's how Rex is. I respect him more for it. Sent from my LG-VM670 using Tapatalk 2
Rex used the term "incumbant" last night in his explanation for announcing Sanchez as the starter Friday night. Pretty telling as to where their heads are, IMO (Rex and Idzik). I've been saying all along that if the candidates are fairly equal, they'll go with the incumbant. This will be true for the TB season opener as well providing neither one of them increases the present (slim) gap.
those 30 seconds in the press conference that i saw last night of rex talking told me everything i needed to know about the qb competition. if rex has his way i guarantee you sancho will start. it was like watching him last year at the post game pressers, it was fucking painful to watch... again and still. such a good coach, such a stupid man.
If Rex starts Sanchez he'd better win some games. If we get into that late stage of the season where the Jets are treading water and Sanchez throws away the season again then Rex's prediction that he and Sanchez would leave the Jets at the same time will likely come true.
Let's see how the offense looks between Smith and Sanchez. I guarantee if Sanchez plays like his usual self they'll go with Smith.
its gonna be interesting to c what happens during and after that tough 4-5 game stretch, those games could be the nail in the coffin.... conversely, if the jets survive (go .500 or so) that stretch with sanchez at the helm that would/should be his ticket to play the entire year. while #2 is possible i personally dont see it so i would bet on seeing smith some time in early november.
