Although I hate Sanchez, I am thinking it might not be a bad idea to start the season with him and see what he can do. If he does well, it is a win for us. If he doesn't do well, then Geno will be undisputed starter no matter what in a year where expectations are pretty low without dealing Sanchez drama.
It appears the defense will be even better this year. We will win some games that people don't expect us to win.
seems like Nacho had a good day and earned the start against the Lions. I think Rex wants to see how he does against a soft secondary. Lions are at home so i think they will leave their starters in for 1/3 of the game. Giving Nacho the 1st qtr and Geno a short look at them as well in preperations for him to start against Jax.
I am feeling much better about this year now than I did a few weeks ago. I don't expect playoffs but I think we'll be better than many people think. We'll be competitive.
The Genomaniacs cant have that. Sanchez will start the season3-1 or better. And that puts Geno on the bench, barring injury...for a year and a half.
I still think that Sanchez will start the season but Geno will be starting after the bye week if not before as we'll be sub .500 by that point. The positives out of this being that we A) can finally get rid of Sanchez no more "give him one more chance" BS and B) will get to see Geno in a number of game situations to evaluate him to see if he can be the QB of the future. It's not ideal but it's not the worst case scenario either. Worst case being Sanchez acts like a middle of the pack starter for the majority of the season before tailing off at the end and we finish around .500. We don't see what Geno is capable of, are still not really sure what to do with Sanchez and maybe keep around some players/personnel that should be gone, not to mention have a worse draft pick than we maybe deserved. Ideal being winning the Super Bowl, obviously.
If we lose more than 1 of the first 4 games BC of QB play, Sanchez is on the bench. Locker,Freeman,Kolb(Manuel) I dont see it happening.and, when Sanchez beats the Pats, on Thursday, to go 2-0... Watch everyone talk about his resurgence, not the shit offense weve been running for 7 years. Thats what passes for "sports reporting" P.s. barring injury...Sanchez QB rating will be over 90 by week 4.
If we do win 3 of our first four games I'll be pumped regardless of who is passing it. Although, to be fair, if we get there it'll likely have more to do with the defence than the offence but I guess we'll see what happens. That could also play into my nightmare scenario where we start off strong and tail off at the end with Sanchez as the QB and not getting to see Geno.
Its not unfeasable that Sanchez could turn the corner and become a much more mistake free QB. If he can string some decent games together and get some much needed confidence, we could have 2 pretty good QBs on the team. *wish-list*
Both QBs doing well is what we should all want. Unfortunately, there are those who seem to be rooting that Sanchez stinks up the field at every turn. We're far better off with a decent Sanchez, Smith and Gmac than we are with only one who looks capable and the other two stinking up the field. Can we all agree that we want whoever offers us the best chance of winning to be the one who takes the field against Tampon Bay? Isn't that the main objective here?
Yes. @MMehtaNYDN 14m Mornhinweg says Sanchez will take majority of reps with first team on Fri vs. Lions. Geno will take "a little with 1s & he'll take the 2s"
Looks like it is Sanchez's job to lose. Barring any major catastrophy(buttfumble), Sanchez will be the week 1 starter.
I'll agree with that. I'm good with a sanchez renaissance if it means him playing consistently well, and I'm also good with the era of eugene making its start. whatever works, at the expense of everybody's ego or feelings, I'll support. the worst thing that can happen is one where sanchez flops, in which case the next step is obvious. wheres the down side?
How can you say that? I think it's because he earned it with a solid practice. Nacho will fuck up like he always does and that will be the nail in the coffin.
