I never said that starting a rookie QB ruins him. It would be more beneficial in my eyes to sit Geno for the first half of the season. Let him get more accustomed to the playbook. More practice time. Hill's a litte more along the way. So are the other guys. The rest of the offense understands the playbook better. Holmes comes back..

If Geno's our guy. Let's develop him correctly.

Well this is what I mean. Now, in today's NFL, there's no "correct" way to develop a QB. Every successful QB has been developed differently, and much of the young quality QBs have started year 1.

    Andy Dalton started Day 1

Yeah he had AJ Green but Geno is more talented than Dalton and our defense is just as good if not better than Cincy

This thread is becoming so ridiculous it should be shut down. While I'm not a Sanchez fan (really never was, even at the beginning), ludicrous statements like this are now defining this thread. And I'm reading the same crap over and over again, being embellished more and more with every passing day.

We "know" Geno is more talented? We know he's a leader? We know he doesn't turn the ball over as much as Mark?

And how, praytell, do we know this? He hasn't taken one snap yet against a single NFL opponent in a real game that actually counts!

So come on. This thread is becoming a cheerleading nightmare of Sanchez vs. Smith supporters. And nothing is factual anymore; just conjecture and wishful thinking and twisting of stats to try to convince others with whom you disagree.

We should all agree on one thing. A few days of practice at TC hasn't decided anything. We do know what we have in Mark Sanchez... we know this because we have a hitory with him now. But we sure as hell don't know what we have with Smith.

So it's going to take time to sort it all out. And trying to force your opinion on someone else by making statements that get more and more outlandish with every passing day is accomplishing nothing but flaring tempers and ridiculously wild, unfounded statements.

you could have stopped at "yeah he had AJ Green" or you could have added it was in Cincinnati not NYC

B/c of the style of the media(and in turn the fans) and the sheer # of media. If Dalton fell on his face it wouldn't have been a big deal, if Geno falls on his face it will be huge news.

    Well what do we know

    - Geno is more athletic
    - he has a better arm
    - he has yet to turn the ball over in team drills (which is good, but shouldn't be a huge factor)
    - in college, he had a very good TD:INT ratio and was known for not throwing a lot of interceptions as opposed to a prospect like Mike Glennon.
    - Cromartie has said that Geno has good leadership qualities about him and that he doesn't make a lot of throws where the DB can make a play on it.

How are those such ludicrous statements? Of course we don't actually know what Geno is until he plays his first full season, and even then the jury can be out... But we know what Mark is at this point, and he hasn't separated himself from a rookie.

Most people on this board obviously already have an idea of who they think will be the best QB for the jets this season, but the truth is nobody really knows anything yet about these QB's.

All we know about Geno is what he did in college and what he's done in tc so far.

Sanchez has 4 seasons under his belt, but as far as i'm concerned they mean nothing (the good and bad).

The talent around him has changed every year as well as having 3 OC's in four years.

He has a new and proven OC, but with WR's and RB's whose talent is up in the air.

It's insane to pick sides this early on.

Look at the jump certain qb's have made year to year. (Eli from 07 to 08) (Alex Smith '10 to "11 and '11 to '12 before he got hurt) (Sam Bradford ''11 to '12)

At this point i don't know who will be better at QB for us this year, but I think neither do most people on this board.

This thread has taught all future players to hope that the Jets don't draft them. And when they become free agents? Don't even take a meeting with the Jets.

Sanchez IS finally putting "the ball where it needs to be".

    In Geno Smith's hands.

Thanks for stating it more tactfully than I did.

Geno hasn't taken a single NFL snap and yet 90% of the posters want him to start right now and for Sanchez to be benched forever, starting right now..

Sanchez has had many chances but with such a hodge-podge of circumstances that I fell like we don't know who he is either.

We are so fucked it's incredible.

So the media should dictate what we do

More like the media heavily influences a large majority of the Jets fan-base. They live, breath and eat everything the media tells them.

    Not like this team.

A poster here once famously said, " if the average Jets fan found a bag full of twenties, he'd bitch that they werent fifties"

With the history this team has who can blame them?

Casual fans that don't analyze football eat up everything the media tells them - hell some on this board eat it up like it's Filet Mignon too. I don't think you can disagree with this. Case and point - Tim Tebow and the "QB battle".

Media can be brainwashing to some.

Thanks captain obvious. If Samchez is considered rest he will be starting... It's ok the hands of the "powers that be". Personally, outside of the defense I have little faith in this organization
