some early news: Eric Allen Chris Ivory working to the side with strength staff. Joe McKnight, Kellen Winslow Jr, Josh Mauga among those not practicing. 10:59AM EDT ---------------------------------------- Eric Allen Team period had offense backed up inside their 10. Sanchez with the 1s and Geno with the 2s as we go to 7 on 7. 11:28AM EDT ------------------------------------ Seth Walder Geno just threw a pick in 7on7s. Ball bounced off Braylon Edwards and into the arms of Antonio Allen. #nyj 11:29AM EDT ------------------------------------ Rich Cimini Geno Smith picked off again. This time, it was his fault. Bad throw, didn't see LB Nick Bellore at goal line -- 7 on 7. #Jets 11:33AM EDT
Eric Allen Sanchez hit Hazelton for a score there in 7 on 7 and now we head to special teams. 11:41AM EDT --------------------------------------- Dennis Waszak Jr. Cromartie returning kickoffs. If I'm #Jets, I'd be VERY careful with this. He's one of team's most indispensible players. 11:43AM EDT (not sure how much i like Cro returning kicks anymore - they have to have another option)
Brian Costello Antwan Barnes gets up slow after a run play #NYJ 11:49AM EDT (YIKES) --------------------------------------------- Randy Lange 11-on-11, 1st & 10: Pitch to RB Bilal Powell goes for 20+ yards and sets up 1st and goal. 11:50AM EDT ------------------------------------------- Eric Allen Powell again for 20 plus along the left sideline. Sanchez leading a nice drive and Powell finishes in on a short pass from 6 on 3rd down. 11:52AM EDT -------------------------------------------- Seth Walder Jets offense puts together solid drive in team drills, with Sanchez at QB, capped by 6 yard TD pass to Powell. #nyj 11:53AM EDT

Maybe his best practice of camp. 12:01PM EDT -------------------------------------------- Seth Walder Sanchez threw a ball over the fence behind end zone. Should have been called for intentional grounding. "Nice throw," Antonio Allen yelled. 12:08PM EDT -------------------------------------------- Seth Walder QB Stats: Sanchez 6-9, TD. Geno 4-7. #nyj 12:13PM EDT
Also sounds like Millner injured his hand today (fell on it) ... came back with fingers taped, but finished practice.
yup, that had to happen. I'm almost glad it did, he doesn't need some arbitrary thing he needs to uphold like never getting picked off in practice hanging over his head. Sanhcez won today thats for sure. I hope the pro Geno crowd can handle that and the Pro Sanchez road doesn't put too much into it. friday can't come any sooner, we need to see these guys live.
It sucks that the RB situation has fluctuated so much. We need a stable run game to get our offense going, and while Bilal has shown some serious improvement, he will not be able to bear the weight on his own. We need Ivory's hamstring to get better, and fast or this offense will be in trouble.
The regular season is about a month away the sense of urgency isn't quite there, but Powell seems like a very capable starter. Can block, run, and catch, that is a complete back right there.
Sounds like Geno had an average day. Sanchez played well. That is good because if Geno starts I want him to earn it by outplaying someone and not winning it by default.
So much suspense! Geno throwing his pics in practice to get them out of the way, I'm pretty sure if he throws one in the lions preseason game he will be crucified. If he is able to move the ball down field and put up points, then Sanchez will take care of the rest and give him the job. If Geno shows any sign of being able to score 21+ ppg from these next preseason games I think the nod goes to him easily.
I've always liked Bilal, but I don't think he's ready to be pushed into the starting role yet. The next week and a half are crucial for Ivory. Playing with a new team, in a new role he needs every rep in practice and in preseason that he can get. Hopefully we'll see him out there soon.
Unfortunately every minuscule mistake geno makes such as interceptions will set him further back in the competition than what Sanchez makes..I think geno's interceptions effect him three times worse than Sanchez interceptions due to the fact this will give Rex and the staff more excuses to say "see he's only a rookie, he needs more time to develop" then the argument for Sanchez being more experienced will take place and the 2 afc championship games under his belt argument will be made....I hope geno wins the job but ultimately I think Sanchez will start and if we start 2-2 or worse, geno will see time on or after week 4...although we should just ride with geno all the way from week 1...
Was never that high on Powell, but he seems to be taking full advantage of the situation. The few runs that were shown on the scrimage recap were pretty damn impressive. Hopefully he can keep it up. Ivory, Powell and Goodson could be a legitimate trio... Hopefully Ivory sitting out is precautionary, and who the hell knows where goodson is.
Dennis Waszak Jr. @DWAZ73 4m Rex says "the one guy who showed up for practice was Mark Sanchez." #Jets Uh oh...........
