51-44 headed into the break. Probably a good job so far considering the circumstances and the division they're in.
ESPN announcers talking about how Girardi is using this revolutionary concept of putting your best hitters in the top four spots of the lineup.
A-Rod’s doctor says there is no quad injury "Dr. Michael Gross, head of sports medicine at Hackensack and the doctor behind A-Rod‘s second opinion, just said during an interview with Mike Francesa on WFAN that Rodriguez is not injured. He said A-Rod has no pain and could play tonight if the Yanks so chose. Gross performed an MRI earlier and apparently had authority from Rodriguez to discuss the results on the air..." http://riveraveblues.com/2013/07/a-rods-doctor-says-there-is-no-quad-injury-91406/ Granderson: A-Rod wanted to hit; vetoed by Yankees TAMPA, Fla. -- Curtis Granderson stopped by to speak with the media members who are staking out Alex Rodriguez outside the Yankees' minor league complex; Granderson will play five innings tomorrow with the Class A Tampa Yankees to start his rehab assignment. He will play in the field, and will most likely stay with Tampa throughout the weekend. Granderson said he saw A-Rod, who stopped and talked with him and Jayson Nix for a few minutes. A-Rod was in good spirits, Granderson said, and wanted to take batting practice with them. He didn't say anything about his quad. Granderson said A-Rod was "like a little kid at recess when we asked him if he wanted to come hit with us, but [Yankees officials] stopped him and said he had to do some other things." http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/yankees/post/_/id/60524/grandy-a-rod-wanted-to-hit-vetoed

Here's the full Cashman statement http://i.imgur.com/cyX9ebC.png He's saying that the doctor didn't examine AROD? Well that might be the problem unless I'm missing something
Looks like the Soriano deal is finally just about done. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20130725&content_id=54762224&vkey=news_nyy&c_id=nyy Anything to get Vernon Wells out of my life forever. Cubs eating most of the contract makes it a no brainer.
The Cubs knew they'd have to eat most of it and they've still been unable to trade him for several years now. They finally capitalized with Soriano hitting ok.
Jeter homers in his first AB back first homer by a Yankee in 10 games first homer by a Yankee RHB since June 25 (Jayson Nix)
Jeter first pitch, SEE YA! He is a Bronx Legend. This will be the greatest Yankee I will ever witness. His name will be remembered for a long, long time.
^ Yeah so they are going to suspend Arod, but he can play if he chooses to appeal. That means they are using Drug rules to suspend Arod, which Arod has never been caught through, so the ban can only be 50 games.. This is going to be a weird journey for Arod and the MLB and the MLBPA
I'm looking back at some Randy Johnson highlights on youtube. How come some pitchers suck on the Yankees but are good on other teams? Too much NY media pressure for a pitcher to handle? Some examples are AJ Burnett and CC. I'm sure theres other examples of this.
he is appealing and MLB said they were not invoking CBA to suspend, just drug agreement. Which means he plays until the appeal is heard, and Girardi said if he's with the team, he'll be in the lineup.
