everytime i see the thread title i read it as if it was part of the hump day commercial. do YOU know where mike goodson is???
The amount of weed is the missing link. If it is more than 1 ounce but less than 5 pounds it could be a 3rd or 4th degree penalty. Which is troublesome. I am not sure it explains rehab and especially the timing of the rehab. Even assuming they were going to rehab as a way to plead down the charge, why didn't go in June instead smack in the middle of camp?
That amount has yet to be consistently confirmed some reports listed it as more then 28 grams up to "confirming" it was a 1/2 pound. This is my thoughts. He was picked up by state police this is confirmed. Which means it automatically goes to a county court. County prosecutors never undercharge they always overcharge and see where it rolls down hill to. Which means if it was over an ounce the initial charge will start at possession with intent to distribute. We also know for a fact he has entered a plea for a PTI program. For him to qualify for pti that charge would have to be downgraded to a form of a possession charge as distribution charges do not qualify for PTI. If in fact it was a half pound it is kind of hard to prove this was for personal consumption. When you deal with higher end rehabs that a professional athlete would use in order to not have media showing up at. This is not something you can call up and just go there that night. It would be a short 1-2 week process to get set up with a bed there. Taking into consideration he didn't find out till mid late june that the case would go to the grand jury add 1-2 weeks to that for the arrangement of induction process. It would be safe to assume that if we didnt hear/see of goodson in the next 2 weeks then we could begin to worry.
So if he qualifies for pti, it can't be intent to distribute, which means it is a smaller amount which mostly likely means it is disorderly person offense, which is pretty mild. The fact that it is going to a grand jury is not likely related to the pot but rather the gun which we already know is not his. The disorderly can amount to jail time but not typically on a first offense. It is possible he is not a first offender as it has been alluded to. That could be a plausible reason he is in rehab if for some reason the courts offer leniency in exchange for this. If this is the case I am not sure why it needs to be a secret. It will all come out in the end. Perhaps he will come back and site personal reasons...get his court date postponed...play and then we will get the full story later when it will have blown over and no one will care anymore. Public relations motivations?
it could be that the young man has a problem with drugs or alcohol too. that stuff doesnt really happen in regards to nfl time. anyone who is an addict or knows someone who is an addict can attest to. bottom line is none of us really know what is going on, we can speculate all we want until someone comes out and tells us which may or may not ever happen. the other bottom line is that he is not in camp so he cannot be counted on to be there sept 8th. at this point.
I think you miss read. Just because he applied for PTI (anyone who doesn't have a prior PTI usage can apply for PTI) You could get caught with 20 lbs and still attempt applying for a PTI claiming it was for personal consumption. But the fact he is using the PTI application shows hes going for personal consumption. Now signing yourself into a rehab would show remorse and acceptance that you had a problem and would be a very useful argument once the court was presented with the case as a distribution charge.
No. You are 180 degrees wrong, Skip. Goodson, is in rehab. Thats whyhis agent says its not related to the charges (though it sort of is), and Rex says "I know where he is, but I'm not going to elaborate" Goodson applied for PTI...so its pretty clear where he is,
Mike Goodson? Does anyone have any information on if this guy is going to report to camp or even play this year? I spoke with a buddy who played ball with him at Texas A&M and he said he is one of the most explosive players he's ever seen play. I'd really like to have that element added to the offense...Anyone have any info??
If he is in rehab then maybe it's part of a plea bargain to keep him out of jail. Oh..I see you just said that in your last sentence.
