Its so toxic how Sanchez apologists are, they will state that talent around Sanchez was trash yet all of a sudden we hear stories about people on offense making huge plays in camp from both Smith and Sanchez. I just need the season to start so people can see what an real QB can do with a decent cast around them, everyone talks about how smith had tavon and bailey to bail him out of situations..... no one ever thinks of this being the other way around. Just freaking give us some damn games!!!
Preseason will tell all Mark sucked last preseason and we heard the vanilla offense excuse then he sucked in the regular season outside of the Bills game Geno is a rookie I'd rather deal with him struggling then watching Mark do it Honestly I'd feel bad for Mark if he shit the bed this year He'd be the laughing stock of all QBs
He already is, by far lol. He's got nothing left to lose. We will see how he does, but I can't imagine him out of nowhere this season turning it up all the way in which we'd want him to stay on this team. Maybe he'll be replaced midseason by Geno so we can see what he's got without ruining him like we did Mark.
Starting Geno week 1 won't ruin him We already in his 1st year got him an OC and QB coach to develop him and groom him and built up the O-Line for the foreseeable future Now all he needs is some young skill guys to grow with A WR, TE(2), RB and a back up QB(these are crucial)
If Geno doesn't know the offense well enough to react rather than think and he's taking a bunch of sacks or otherwise fucking up that could very well ruin him. He needs to be ready if he's starting week one.
This right here is the line between the ushering of the Era of Eugene or the last stand of Sanchize. He's better physically, he throws a faster, tighter, and overall better ball and is better on his feet than #6. so under that thought he has more upside, he can only get better and is already better in many respects. but in spite of that he needs to prove he can handle running this bitch more than anything. what does the playbook entail he do in this scenario? what if an opposing defense stops this part of a play short? Can he know the offense well enough to do the right thing in the face trouble? thats his barrier, along with being able to read NFL defense well enough to operate under center. Sanchez has improved for all the crap we give him, if Smith lacks a certain something the veteran will get the gig for a bit.
Whoever winds up with the starting job their number 1 priority will be not to turn the ball over. So far Geno only has 1 fumble that's been reported and 1 pick in one on one's. With Sanchez he has several interceptions in both team and one on one drills and several dropped interceptions. Still, far too early to tell who's going to win the job. But I can safely say this, the coaching staff will take sacks over turnovers almost every time, though neither is desirable. That fact that concerns me about Sanchez is on 7 on 7's he's elected to throw in to double coverage a number of times which means someone had to be one on one or wide open yet Mark elected to throw in to double coverage. That is alarming.. That said, Geno's still got a lot of work to do on the offense. but the fact that Mark hasn't been outshining Geno up to this point, as many said he would early in camp, show's one of two things (or maybe a combination of the two), either Geno's doing much better than expected and or Sanchez is doing much worse than expected. I'm looking forward to tomorrow's green and white, but even more looking forward to the first pre-season game...that's where the tree will get shaken and it should become more apparent who the starting QB will be.
It didnt ruin Ryan Tannehill (or so it appears). Im sure many Jets fans will dispute this, but Tannehill showed some promising signs. He overall didnt have a great rookie season but with an added WR, he is expected to take a big step forward. If Idzik is dedicated to developing Geno, I dont think he could be ruined if he starts. He seems too mentally "tough" for that.
Isn't it usually the pounding that gets to a rookie QB? With the Jets revamped OLine, Geno and/or Sanchez shouldn't get their heads bashed in this year. If that's turns out to be the case, then Geno should be looked at to see what we'r working with. We already have a pretty good idea what Sanchez and his headband brings to the table.
Did anyone else see the scroll out of the corner of their eye on ESPN and throw their hands up? I did a double take and blurted out "you have got to be f*cking kidding me"...and then saw the sport designation in the corner. http://espn.go.com/college-football...a-crimson-tide-corner-geno-smith-arrested-dui CB Geno Smith arrested for DUI
For Geno to win this "competition" he needs to impress at the Metlife bowl (150+ yards, TD+, 60%+ completions, 0 turnovers) and everyone who is a Jet fan will jump on the bandwagon everyone! Then in the final preseason game he has to follow it up with zero turnovers and look like he has control of the offense. If he can do that he will win the job.
